everyday life of a stay at home mom/artist

lOOking

, , ,

oooooooooooooopen.

It is 9:06 in the evening at present and I am on the laptop looking for a respectable pattern for a 'crochet flower' that I NEED to finish a project that I am working on. (I figured I am online, so why not do another post.) I am so desperate for this pattern that I might even invent my own...and why not?? wink I googled 'crochet flower' and didn't see anything that I was completely drawn to...

Ok, cracking pecans and cartoon network....the sounds of the living room. I am almost starting to take pleasure in The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Photobucket

I need to mention that one of my daughters was nominated to attend the Jr National Young Leaders Conference in Washington this summer. Few kids are nominated by teachers to attend a week long summer camp….

Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC) offers mature, high-achieving middle school students the opportunity to learn about leadership by studying the leaders of the past and by focusing on social advocacy to make a positive impact in their homes and communities. Through an examination of both different historical time periods and characteristics of leadership, students will gain a better understanding of what it takes to become an effective leader.

Isn’t that AMAZING?

I am so proud of my girl….and to think…she was born 2 months early at only 3 lbs 2 ounces! Congrats daughter. love
Her dad and I are a bit loud, so I have no idea where she gets her even temperedness and patience. She is truly a gem to be around.

I am looking forward to making the
“How to Crochet: Step 1” video for your enjoyment tomorrow.

I am not sure yet...the tuition is almost 2,000.00 yikes So we are thinking about trying to raise the money from family...(and our savings of course)

OH! I wanted to go, btw, lol. But it stated clearly that parents were not allowed. bigeyes cry

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Thursday, March 6, 2008 4:25:31 AM

Bad WolfCois Thursday, March 6, 2008 4:40:16 AM

Fiiiiine...sad

Stardancer Thursday, March 6, 2008 5:52:11 AM

Congrats to your daughter, and kudos to you and Mr. Sarah for your parenting her and the other three girls. It's wonderful to hear good news from moms and dads about their kids!!!

KarenNerak Thursday, March 6, 2008 6:03:43 AM

I hate the whole "new message" thing, too. They really need to reconsider how that's done.

$2000?! bigeyes Seems a bit steep, but then again, traveling isn't cheap. I think it's bogus that you can't go, though. I mean c'mon! Every student trip needs an awesome chaperon!

RamuciukeSaron Thursday, March 6, 2008 8:43:59 AM

Congrats to your daughter! I imagine how proud of her you are.

Love, Ramute yes

Stardancer,
I love the sound of that "Mr.Sarah" heheh. And to think he actually did almost take my last name..how did you know?
(for all those that don't understand, my husband and I have a great balance of power so quit thinking that. :glare:)

Thanks again, I can always count on my good friends here to be happy
along with us. love

Karen,
I know, right? I agree. On one hand it lets you know nicely
that someone is trying to gain your attention or leave you a
nice note, but on the other hand you must go into your inbox
expecting a nice letter from a friend (like you) only to see
that you wrote in your own shoutbox. bigeyes Ok, that's a rip,
is it not?

I would write back to someone and see 'new message' only
forgetting that I had wrote in the shoutbox. doh

Yes, the trip is quite expensive. As it stated in the letter
these kids receive VIP passes all around Washington. up I
would LOVE to see her go.
*praying about it*

I will join in on the praying! http://elouai.com/images/yahoo/51.gif -

Congratulations regarding your daughter! You guys must have some warm, parently pride going on there! Good work! up

I wonder if there's some way her school could be in on some sort of fund raising? After all, it's a massive opportunity for her (not to mention a massive acknowledgement). Something like that on a resume in the future would be awesome (and since her teacher nominated her ... ).

I wonder ... prhaps the teacher who nominated her has some ideas regarding funding for the trip?

Oh, well ... even if she can't go, it's still a nice tip of the hat to let her know she (and you and your fella as parents) are doing the right thing! up

Regarding the pattern, why not give it a go and design something yourself? After all, all the millions of patterns that exist out there had to be designed by someone ... you're someone ... smile

I hope this will be helpful (I don't have a lot of time this morning otherwise I would have searched and evaluated in greater detail). It was one of the first entries up when I Googled 'Freeware Pattern Maker' - the idea being that perhaps there's some automated way you could take a photo and convert it into a pattern if you didn't want to design from scratch just yet). smile

Thanks David so much for the link up
There are so many kids in the school that
get nominated that I don't think that they
have the time or resources to raise money
for all those that need it, sad.

Thanks so much you are exactly right smile up Happy Woman's Day to all!
cheers
