My Opera approaching 1,000,000 users....

In December 2004 I was wondering the net aimlessly using AOL dial up internet and messenger to connect to the world and family that was out of town. When I had extra time I would mainly play games on POGO or send and receive funny emails. Occasionally I would go in search of a community other than the AOL community. I have always kept a hand written diary since I was a child and my mother recommended that I start a blog to get out my creative energy in the form of stories and poems, etc. So on the Google search engine I went in search of all things blog related. Curiously I noticed a link to Opera and ‘clicked’ on it. I half way expected Opera singers to greet me at the home page of My Opera.
I wrote this is 2006 and wanted to share.
I find it fascinating that I can meet, connect with and even love friends that I have never met in person before. Who would have thought that there would ever be a magic tool to access and talk instantly to a stranger hundreds and sometimes thousands of miles away? The internet is like a wild and uncontrolled dream come true. I appreciate and cherish the men and women of the My Opera community and other sites that I have had the pleasure of knowing. Seeing parts of their worlds and parts of their personalities is something that I will always remember and love.
In closing I have to say…I don’t demand a lot from the people of Opera, I just want to “blog and be happy” so to say. I want my friends to leave my blog feeling happy..most of the time.
Sarah

I feel the same way about it. We're all pretty lucky to have such a wonderful service at our fingertips...and it's even free!

I also feel the same...it's free AND it's good! You can't beat that. Well, it's free besides the $50.00 a month in high speed internet.

I was on AOL too... Pogo was in my blood back then.
Anyhow...yes, things have sure changed for me too.
I never thought I would be a blogging type of person. I mean, like, who really cares about my musings? It does appear some people actually do! Just like we care about you!
I love to read the goings ons about as many people as my old slow computer will let me.
Have a great day! I am glad I met you here.

drop into, like in a neighborhood pub with a few pool tables, a small
library & nice comfortable sofa's with chairs.
We needed a TV screen!! Can you imagine, alot of the joy now is to
see most of our very close friends.
I very much would like to hear their real voice's!
All of what we have because of OPERA has formed many of us who would
of never stuck it out with any other site.
"OPERA" was created by talented & dedicated people who have drawn in
all sorts of a wonderful support group,(members) who now are giving
it a voice & helping each other.
OPERA is a great "Community" and we should support it by being
supportive with empathy!!
It is noticible that many of this group live in areas of trouble
and striff & may have come to us because they could be sad, lonely,
or very shy & unhappy.
As a family of sorts give each other a hug of undestanding.
Thank you ALL & OPERA for your work.
