:worried:Guys I had to change my name and make the blog friend's only..I LOST my place on the most visited ]list...(awww too bad for me)...but good for me...I found a link to my blog on this idiotic website that was for pedos.

So...anyway...here is a screen shot of that hit from HitsLink!

I asked on this forum http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=131285&page=2#comment2026591 if they would change my name from www.my.opera.com/angel292005 to 'sabell' it is available so hopefully they will get that done.

Quick bit of info for ya hun. When they change ya name, you'll have to go through ya blog manually changing all the image file addresses else they wont work. Ditto for anything posted in a forum or on a group blog. They're normally quite fast with the changes though. Longest I've seen took bout two days.

Only found out with mine cause Tori told me my picture in the latest P+ group blog wasn't working anymore. Took me hours to figure out what had gone wrong.

No, you'd just have to go into each post and change your name in the link to the file you've uploaded to your new name. Shouldn't take too long if you dedicate a little time to it. Took me an hour or so using a phone keypad to sort out about 80 posts.

I only changed the case of my name. Had a lower case F and it was annoying me. Of course when they tried to change it they couldn't at first cause they were basically changing my name to a name that already exists - mine. Trust me to break a system with a seemingly simple request eh?

They eventually sorted it by changing my name from furie to something else then back to Furie.

Another way is that you set your photos friends-only - so only your friends will be able to see it.

Report the site that was linking to you to the coppers. They'll have to shut it down for starters.

You could just make any post that's personal a friends only post. Likewise with the photo albums, anything bout the kids gets put on friends view only. One rule I'm keeping for my family is to disable comments and ratings in the albums cause it creeps me out.

Stomyr-I thought I did that..but when I looked they were all private, guess I went over board in the setting, lol.

Furie-I will be more careful now..about reporting the site...I have no clue who to report to...every time that I think about it, it creeps me out.

It was like a database of where to go to find things about child love.

and having my blog on the 'misc' section freaked me out for real! It took me a while to find it-I have no idea why I decided to actually check that link out...I guess the 'referring' site seemed a bit odd to me. I encourage others to check their hitslink as well to find out who is referring them. That creep in Belgium (whoever he was) led me there, so actually I am glad that I found it. I am thinking about going back and checking it to make sure the link is broken now. That particular post is now set on private...

Holland has a 12 age limit I think. Not sure. Shouldn't make a difference as you're not there, your countries age limit should count for how your photos are displayed and where. Contact the police and inform them of the site. Most countries have a task force for dealing with this crap now.

If you contact you web provider they should also be able to do something, but they normally fob you off by telling you not to post pics in the first place. In a perfect world we'd be safe to post whatever we want without fear of bloody perverts using it. Unfortunately the laws haven't been unified enough to deal with things like this yet, so we have to rely on protocols put in place in a hurry as fear spreads.

Lots of people care, but in situations like these a lot of people don't really know what to do or who to get help from. I've still got a teeny bit of my old admin instincts and experience so I'm better suited to helping out in this sort of situation than most. Only wish I could have helped more.

I guess it comes down to how you view the world. Most people would rather not think that something like this could happen to them. Personally I've had it thrown in my face thanks to the work Kim and I used to do on another community site. When a young girl on that site came to Kim for help and we witnessed her being harassed by someone we both knew and chatted to it really hit home for us. Now we're not so trusting of people online until they've proved themselves to us. Sounds harsh I know, but it's the only way to be sure.

I only wish Kim's little sister would bloody listen to us when we try to warn her about this stuff. She's got that teenaged nothing can happen to me attitude at the mo and even allows anonymous comments to her photos which has led to us shouting at grown men on here already.

BTW, if you have a firewall, you can set a rule, to prevent your children to access to opera - dirty but effective "trick".... Or you can disable the following TCP and UDP port: 20 and 21 (FTP-Data), so she won't be able to upload anything. If you disable port 80 the result would be disabled internet... Since I can't watch which ports are used when opera uploads (since something is wrong with my page) I can't tell you, which ports you should close, (I guess it uses TCP 80 - The default HTTP port) so disabling the domain is the best solution.

Mik-Yes, it is so difficult to trust people now. You never know what the agenda is...they can seem so nice and then hit you with some dirty little secret lurking in the depths of their dark and whithered heart. Well, maybe not that serious but you get what I mean. I know that teenaged attitude, my oldest is starting that mess.

Stomyr-Thanks for the tips. Can you believe that the school gives the children their own computers with the capability of wireless internet access? She brings home her computer and connects to the router that we have here at home. She is so smart to have figured that she would have to download the FF or Opera browser to be able to download things like Y!Messenger, MySpace Messenger and so on...onto her computer. Kids are so smart now! And getting better than adults at how to get around firewall, ports and even parental control.

Speaking of parental control...check this out...I have a remote with the V button...you know the one that you can press to set parental control on it. I programed the T.V. (G-rated only, automatically off after 8, blah blah blah) Well, I came home one day to find all the settings back to default AND the freaking button on the remote COMPLETELY MISSING!!! Hahaha!! Well-that is just an example of what kids are capable of...and they will look at you with big innocent eyes like they are :angel:s knowing good and well it is a front!

It is sooo easy to reset the parental control in TV-s.

However, if you have a good firewall, no one can access to "bad sites" - a good firewall can be double or treble coded - so your children will never have a chance to bypass it.

Only in one case – if you gave a chance them to guess your passwords. In the near future I’ll write another research about security, since I work as a “part time” teacher/ researcher in Cryptography and Advanced Intelligence.

And I was stupid enough to teach my brother a few things, so I have to write my own “parental” program.

Sarah, let me get this straight.

Never put a photo of your family or the ones you know on internet. At least not free access. I was punched in the head for a mere photo of my classmate on our School internal net. And after that, all my photos contains faces are friend access.

I'm still confused as to the whole thing. Did they spam you with dirty links? Then simply delete them. I encountered them not only once and just delete them is fine. Or, did they used YOUR photos? that's sick. I believe you must be among those who have full access to Hitslink. Don't believe it too much... (I don't have, so to say) sometimes they're proxy servers. Can you see my IP address there? I use Opera Mini proxy server and I'm in China.

If it's simply spam, disable anonymous comments. And set all photos containing faces into friend access. That's done. :satisfied:

No, they had a link to my blog on their site. It was to a post that I did about a child poem. It would be the same as you linking to my blog on your own blog for a post that I did. But it being on their site disturbed me.

Yes, but I will not make your IP address public, but it does tell me that you are in China. But I downloaded a proxy guard and it also put me in China. But I was not able to access Opera with the proxy guard on.
