Thanks all!

Ok! One thing......the recipe for the cake came from a box! faint

All we did was mix with water, hehehe. The 'icing' is whipped cream from the frozen section of the supermarket, and the strawberries, well we just sliced them and put them on the cake. Sooo easy! bigsmile

Woah! Yumm-O! Is it a sponge cake?

Oh!
Today I looked up the history of the phrase 'kettle of fish', and came across this paragraph, from this website, which suggests that kettles may not exist in America bigeyes

"These days, especially in Britain and Commonwealth countries, we think of a kettle as a small enclosed container with a handle and spout for boiling water to make our tea. (I believe that Americans are less familiar with this essential item of kitchenware.)"

Do you have kettles in America? It's probably a stupid question...

Hi there Galadriel! smile

Well, I read the article and they are talking about
the phrase, "a kettle of fish" mostly.... but
they say this,

These days, especially in Britain and Commonwealth countries, we think of a kettle as a small enclosed container with a handle and spout for boiling water to make our tea. (I believe that Americans are less familiar with this essential item of kitchenware.) In the eighteenth century, though, a kettle was any large vessel used to boil stuff in.

Yes, I know what a kettle is. smile

I remember growing up and grandma always having a kettle on the
stove for tea or whatever she needed hot water for. We even love
to have one now for making tea.....but they are a little difficult to
find in the stores, but not impossible.

As for the phrase, "a kettle of fish" I have never heard of it. smile

I hope that helped.
