FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The past few days I have been spending alot of time, visiting sites and acquainting myself with the neighborhood; learning, laughing, and having a swell time ! I have had a few nice visitors since my bro set up this site for me. But truthfully, I have been feeling quilty; having nothing to share on my blog but, well NOTHING. So here is a little SOMETHING.

My roommate has a parrot. Now i have just read in Time Magazine that birds are quite intellegent...so..me being the dumb bunny that i am, I thought perhaps if I adopt the same diet as Ms.Pickle ( thats the parrots name ), perhaps i could develope my underdeveloped grey cells and figure out how to semi-master all this blog stuff.

Here is Ms. Pickles diet recommended by the Bird Lovers Outlet. Any of the following foods are exceptable to the birds health and palate:
raw carrots, raw corn on the cob, brocolli, asparagus, zucchini, squash, bell peppers, fresh jalapenos (really?), cucumbers, cauliflower, tomatoes, raw spinach, brussel sprouts (cooked), peas in pod, fresh greens, greens such as mustards & turnips (yuck), collards, dandelions ( boy i've been lacking that one ), potatoes(cooked), yams (cooked ), well most all veggies. Fresh fruits such as apples(no seeds), grapes, kewi, strawberries ( extra yum- they say ),etc... Wheat toast, pasta, mac & cheese ( I say yum), cereals like Cherrios n Kicks, rice, beans, cooked beef, chicken ( isn't that kinda canabalistic?), cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs. HARD BOILED EGGS ( are you kidding me ).
Well, the list goes on and on...
I realized that Ms. Pickle and I don't really share the same eating habits. My diet consist mainly of HOPS ! Yes lots & lots of hops. And PAll Malls, and on special occasions I throw in the conventional foods. Soooo, maybe that is why I can't think. DAHH. Hey, my FOOD FOR THOUGHT cheers

Hey Anna... It is a nice post... my brother had a parrot, but I am not sure if it has eaten such kind of food in the list. I think Ms. Pickle really needs good stuffs to keep its intelligence.
Angeliki ... when I and Dirk was shopping, we saw a German branded Chocolate. Each had different taste. We decided to buy it. I ate two cubes and let the rest in my bag. Because we were so busy with the wedding preparation, I forgot about it for few days. faint I just realized that I had it when we were in a hotel in Solo. So I directly put the in the fridge.

nobody told me there was a party going on here. why wasn't i notified.

there now you are singing for your supper. idea

vis a vis the parrot food list... i agree that some of the items will make that parrot as if a cannibal. if he's as smart as they say, he'll turn his beak up at it and let fly some cursing that would make a sailor blush. happy

parrots are so beautiful... as if some archangel was in such a happy mood when he/she was in the design birds group.

Edward, The picture remind me of a serial movie I always watched when I was a child... a nice family... but I forget the title of the TV series... http://files.myopera.com/There2ia/smileys/doh01.gif -

Stardancer Monday, August 30, 2010 5:40:29 AM

"Little House on the Prairie" is the name of the series depicted in Edward's photo, Teresia.

smile

TeresiaThere2ia Monday, August 30, 2010 8:04:57 AM

I will try to google it... it just brought a certain memory of my childhood... thank you Star...smile

Yoh... http://files.myopera.com/There2ia/smileys/waterplay01.gif -
I was right that the name of the husband was Michael London. I used to name the series with his name... easier to remember because English was not my language at all...

Stardancer Monday, August 30, 2010 10:41:59 PM

You're welcome, Teresia.

I really enjoyed this TV show. It was about a simpler time, and things that were really important.

smile

scott cummingIArtMan Monday, August 30, 2010 11:08:22 PM

good show. it was one of the few that i used to watch with my kids that i really approved of; down to earth common sense values. sort of like one of my favorite movies, "the yearling". of course, we read the books too. but seriously, the show lived up to the literature. idea

TeresiaThere2ia Tuesday, August 31, 2010 4:22:43 AM

I think so... My mother did not miss it, either. We always watch it together... She was really fond of this movie... hm hm She might adore Michael London. I did not ask her because I was too young to know about it...It was great! It was on TV every sunday afternoon. sometimes it was not in the right time because of other programs, so when it started, the person knew will shout "Michael London, Michael London!" lol lol lol

Naomi CultureSurfer Monday, April 25, 2011 12:21:52 AM

Eggs? You bet! Our lovebird loved scrambled eggs and, at one time, chicken. We used to call her a "fine young cannibal." lol

Eggs shouldn't be fed often, though, because of the high fat content. Bird can develop fatty liver disease.

And not only is chocolate a huge no-no, but so are avocados. They are highly toxic to birds.

Here is a link for all of the foods/woods(perches)/house plants that are ok or toxic for birds:
