Russ, but not from Russia :)

, ,

There is an interesting tradition in Norway when you are in the last year of high school (vidergaendeskole). At the night of 30th April and 1st May a student becomes a Russ. 1st May is Day of Work so everybody parties the night before. First of all students buy an old bus and upgrade it and paint it in a chosen style. Then from the 1st till 17th May Russebussen drive through the whole city with the students and party inside.

The Russebus I cought looks like a Hippie bus with colourful flowers. Also students wear Russedress which is actually worker's dun-garees in red with their name and year written on it. When I was on the party at Gautam's I tried out Havar's russedress. And here are the results. 17th May is the last day of Russ-partying and national Independence Day in Norway. Afterwards they have final exams and sell the busses to the next-year students.
