Working on my house

My father died in 2000 -- being the only child I inherited the house. We've been working off and on with it -- one of Dad's foibles was "if it isn't falling down, don't fix it." We've replaced the upstairs bathroom already and are starting to plan the kitchen. Sometime this summer we need to replace the front porch -- the columns are coming apart.
But the thing we finally decided to do was get rid of the Ancient Carpets in the original part of the house. In most of them we found some really nice oak flooring in a box pattern -- which means eventual refinishing. But it feels So Much Better in the house without the carpets.
More later -- time to clean my dirty, hard-worked body and take the toothpicks out of my eyes.
