Photoline 14.50

If you are missing features in Gimp and didn't like to pay a lot for Photoshop you should definitely tryout Photoline. It's powerfull and stable as Photoshop itself, has the best PSD file support i ever saw and it is really cheap.
The only bad thing is you need Wine to get it running on Linux. All about Photoline 14.50 can be found in the release notes.

Looks promising. Have You ever worked with Photoline? And if so would You recommend it as an real Photoshop alternative? The reason I am asking is that I would like run Photoshop (possible the newest version) with Wine but You mentioned some problems with it. And if working with Photoline is the same as with Photoshop but with nor Wine-problems I would use Photoline. Very important is 100% PSD-compatibility. Not so important are filter-compatibility (Photoshop), batch processing and so on.

Photoline is great and powerful as Photoshop is. It has a very, very good support for the PSD format - the best i ever tested. One nice feature of the psd support is that its load the composite preview image of the psd file on an additional layer so you see how the image would look like in Photoshop.
It runs on Wine too but has some icon/ toolbar problems. That may depends on the Wine version. I will test it again soon.
