Krita 2 and Karbon14 2 alpha 10

, , , , , , ,

A week ago the KOffice project released the 10th alpha of KOffice 2 including the image editor Krita 2 and the vector drawing app Karbon14 2.
Besides a lot of fixes Krita 2 brings now the Sumi-e paintop, which is a very configurable bristle-simulating brush engine (screeny). Karbon 2 brings back the page layout editing (screeny) and new filters.

I've been looking for a quick/easy open source equivalent for Publisher for my wife, something she can drag quick and easy pictures onto and know what size they're actually going to print, do easy (templated?) brochure design stuff, etc.

Karbon wouldn't fit that role would it? I looked at OpenOffice Draw a little bit...it didn't seem to bad either.

Any suggestions?
