Acrobat Reader 8.1.3 update

, , , , , , , ,

Envince and a lot of other PDF viewers are great for the daily usage. But working with PDF documents for prepress the best at all is always the Adobe PDF Reader. Due some security issues Adobe updated it now to version 8.1.3.
The Adobe Reader is available in various languages as a Deb and RPM archive too, so its easy for you to install it. You can get it via the Medibuntu Repository too.

I'd like to see color management (or at least a decent CMYK representation) in Adobe Reader for Linux.
Usually I get better colors from evince than from Adobe Reader.

@Gez

There is color management in Acrobat most times it is working but some times it didn't. I do not figured out th issues. Hopefully they get it fixed. Evince has color management too but that's not 100% perfect too :frown:

For a quick view in PDF documents and for normal use (reading) Evince is perfect. It's small and fast enough. But sometimes one need more functionality for example filling out formulars in PDF documents, print them out or send them per e-mail. Or checking signed documents and comment some parts of a document (if allowed).

But there are some things missing in Adobe Reader for Linux: It doesn't support drag & drop documents from GVFS mountet volumes into acroread. Acroread isn't in the list of available applications for PDF documents (mime-type). But i can live without that. ;-)
