Second day IICO 2008

The 2nd day at the IICO 2008 was filled with a lot of interesting talks, i visited a very nice one about wording and writing text for websites.
As a member of the jury for the IICO Award about "Design and Usability" it was a pleasure for me to hold the laudatio for the winner of the award: LEGO :smile:

The SIGGRAPH 2008 announces the 2nd international 2D and 3D animation contest. Up to the 15th of March 2008 you can submit your animations. All about the rules and prizes can be found at the FJORG page.

Blender 2.50 - the new architecture

There is a very long article at the Blender wiki of the last developer IRC meeting. Ton Roosendaal showing ideas and sketches about the new architecture of the upcoming Blender 2.50 release.
The Blender development will now move to the established VMC (View-Model-Controller) model that will make it much easier to implement new features in Blender.
And other new features are added: Custom Weight Range and Multi Modifier.

Nicole Riske did again, with her illustration she won the Goldener Spatz poster award. All is done in Inkscape. Congratulation!

Audience Award: "Global Warming" Sheldon Lieberman (Australia)

Webcuts.07 award animation

Today i finished the Webcuts.07 award animation. It's a modification of colors and fonts of last year. I did the rendering and compositing complete in Blender but struggeled in the output of an Quicktime movie with sound (seems a FFMpeg problem).

The nominees of Webcuts.07 awards are set — but still a secret! The best 22 movie clips from around the world will be presented on October, 11 at the CineStar Original Berlin SonyCenter. Tonight the jury will meet to decide on who will be the winners for best design, best animation, best story and best film.

If you have created a fine motion graphics, 3d animation, video or Flash film submit it for Webcuts - Internet Film Fest Berlin:
http://www.webcuts.org/2007/info_submit.html

All movies of "Official Selection" will be shown on the 11th of October in Berlin (Europe/ Germany) in the CineStar cinema at the Potsdamer Platz/ Sony Center.
