One of the oldest projects where i'm part of it (and in this case i'm founder of it too) is: Webcuts - Internet Film Fest Berlin. Now the call of submission started and everybody is invoked to submit his movie (don't forget to read the rules). Of course the Webcuts project is looking for sponsors too This time i started to design the flyer and website using Inkscape. For the prepress PDF of the flyer and web graphics export i used GIMP.
Just 2 weeks and Ubuntu Ibex final is available. I checked it out on some notebook that didn't work with Ubuntu Hardy out of the box - with Ibex without any problem So i'm curious about it and get it running on my Dell Vostro (on which the last Ubuntu releases always runs out of the box). Like in April this year i designed the flyer for the Ubuntu Release Party here in Berlin and again area42 sponsored the print of it Thanx to Iñigo Alonso for allow us to use the "Sunny Ibex" background.
The 4th international TYPO3 conference is over now. After Sebastian and me finished our DEV talk (we were the first one) we could enjoy meeting the community, discussing ideas, listen to other interesting talks and celebrate funny evenings. Now i'm a little bit outpowered need a lot of sleep. Special thanks to new organizers for moving the T3CON'08 to Berlin. Soon it will possible order a DVD of the talks. The 2nd day at the IICO 2008 was filled with a lot of interesting talks, i visited a very nice one about wording and writing text for websites. As a member of the jury for the IICO Award about "Design and Usability" it was a pleasure for me to hold the laudatio for the winner of the award: LEGO
Today i was the first day at the IICO 2008 presented by Infopark. Bernd Völker gives an interesting opening about the future of the web and the need of ideas and fantasy to create something amazing. This was followed by a more unintresting keynote of the CeBit Messe AG. A quite interesting talk about podcast and how corporate podcasts can be successful at the web was given by BASF. This was followed by a good one about analyzing the web (yes, that's the next step after analyzing the own website) and what the web is talking about you and your company. There were a lot of talks and i can't listen to all of them. By the way at area42 we developed the print design of the IICO 2008, the header graphic is made using Blender.
Berlin is full of creatives we have a lot of freaky illustrators here that painting cartoons for the newspapers every day. One of my favorites since the early days is OL. Too bad he didn't have a daily comic so i can't get it on my desktop like i did for Wulffmorgenthaler's Daily.
Yesterday i had my talk about Wine at the Ubuntu Hardy release party Berlin. There were a lot of other interesting talks too and i met very nice people interested in graphic design, web development and Wine (greetings to Marcus, Renee and Gabriel ). On some demo PC's i played around with Ubuntu Hardy Heron and i geting the feeling its very fast and runs much better then Gutsy did. Soon i will publish my talk about WINE and getting Windows software running here.
The new Ubuntu Hardy Heron is landed. All in all it sounds great and i get some feedback that it is running well on various Dell notebooks. So next weekend i will upgrade to Hardy too. Here in Berlin (capital of Germany) Hardy is in the local screen casts of the metro system On Saturday i will have a talk about Wine on the Ubuntu Hardy release party Berlin.
A real huge collection of the best german campaigns, posters, illustrations, videos, newspapers, ads... from 2007. Besides that there is a congress, a conference, an award show and a festival too. All together to much for one brain

The nominees of Webcuts.07 awards are set — but still a secret! The best 22 movie clips from around the world will be presented on October, 11 at the CineStar Original Berlin SonyCenter. Tonight the jury will meet to decide on who will be the winners for best design, best animation, best story and best film.
