calibration, color, linux, monitor
...
I wrote some posts about
simple color calibration, of course there are color management systems available for Linux too. One of them is the open source color management system
Argyll CMS.
dispcalGUI is a GUI frontend for several utilities (specifically dispcal, dispread, colprof and dispwin) of it. Using all together it allows you to calibrate and profile your display using a measurement device (of course Argyll CMS did a lot more).

nvidia, gnome, monitor, color
...
Last year i wrote a post about
Monitor color calibration on Linux. Now i recognized on my Dell Vostro 1700 system that the display is to lighten and that red is missing a bit.
At
GetDeb i found GAMMApage which works great but didn't solve my problems in detail.
I found a good solution in installing the package "nvidia-settings" and configuring my display via "System > System settings > Nvidia X Server Settings > X Server Display Configuration > X Server Color Correction" in front of a brilliant and colorfull monitor. To get the color correction at system start i added at "System > Preferences > Sessions" the entry:
/usr/bin/nvidia-settings -l

KDE, gnome, monitor, calibration

I found this nice article aboout possibilities for color calibration of monitors at Linux.com:
http://applications.linux.com/article.pl?sid=05/02/07/2244242A lot of calibration chart can be found at
Normen Koren's siteI'm a little bit disappointed that such a tool like
KGamma for the Gnome desktop is missing.
