UniConvertor 1.1.3, a universal vector graphics translator for various formats, is published by the SK1 project:* Added PDF exporter
* Added PostScript exporter
* Fixes for sk1 import/exort filters
* Fixes in model layers representation
UniConvertor could be used with Inkscape 0.46 for importing CorelDraw files *.cdr (and may in future in Scribus too). At the moment just the sources and an RPM package is available.

At the Inkscape Tutorial Blog i found this nice tutorial of Martin Sourada, member of the Fedora Art Team, about painting icons with Inkscape. If this is not enough check out this too. Here and here is another icon tutorial too.Inkscape is my favorite for icon design too.

UniConvertor a universal vector graphics translator based on the sK1 engine gets updated to 1.1.2. It will used by the upcoming Inkscape 0.46 for importing CorelDraw files (*.cdr) too.The UniConvertor supports a wide range of vector file formats like: CDR, CMX, AI, PS, EPS, SVG, WMF, CGM, AFF. Binary packages for various systems following soon.

There is a new Tango icon set for Inkscape that will ship with 0.46. I personal like it much more then the other icon sets that are available.You can use it with your local installed Inkscape too. Just download a archive of a windows built, the icon theme can be found in "inskcape/shared/icons".

Inkscape 0.46 code freeze started besides smaller changes no code changes are longer accepted. One of the last minute features that was implemented was the long requested angeled guidlines. So these days Inkscape 0.46 getting more and more stable and the official bug hunt will be started soon.If you like to know more about the features of the upcoming version study the release notes.

May it seems we are close to the 0.46 release of Inkscape because the release notes of 0.46 are published yet. It is a very interesting list and includes all the features i posted and someting interesting like:* Import of CorelDraw (*.cdr) files via Uniconverter
* CMYK and color profile support
* lot of effects via ImageMagick
* better support for PDF and Adobe Illustrator (*.ai)
* dockable dialoges
* ...and of course more speed
All in all it will be an amazing release and i hope we will get it soon.
