Getting famous with GIMP :)

, , , ...

Ok, i'm getting not really famous but as i read my CMYK Tiff 2 PDF for Gimp script is now in Debian SID and Ubuntu Karmic. That means many, many, many people can enjoy my work
BTW : You can enjoy that and a lot of other stuff now too, just download the liblqr-1-0_0.4.1-1_i386.deb and the gimp-plugin-registry_2.1-1_i386.deb package and install them. This will update the packages of Jaunty.

gEdit Language Reference Plugin Update

, , , ...

After GnoCHM makes no real progress in development CHMsee is a really good alternative to read Windows CHM-Helpfiles. The newest version 1.0.6 of CHMsee now shiped with the long missed index feature (for Ubuntu Jaunty a newer version of libgcrypt11 is required).
This le me think about my gEdit Language Reference Plugin again. So i added support for various CHM viewer like GnoCHM, CHMsee, XCHM or KCHMviewer. To support the project i created a complete german translation for CHMsee too that may ship with 1.0.7 one day

Moonshiner

Ghostscript offers a powerfull PostScript-to-PDF converter. But it is quite challenging to use its parameters on the command line. Moonshiner is a graphical frontend (GUI) for it that is very simliar to Adobe Distiller. At the moment version 1.0 is in beta state while 1.1 is available at the SVN.
Scott Nesbitt wrote a post how to get it running on Ubuntu Linux.

Envince and a lot of other PDF viewers are great for the daily usage. But working with PDF documents for prepress the best at all is always the Adobe PDF Reader. Due some security issues Adobe updated it now to version 8.1.3.

Scribus 1.3.5 sneak preview

, , , ...

Scribus is a fine open source application for print and dtp. I'm using 1.3.4 often but it has its bug and so i'm waiting for an update. I was a little bit confused about the newer 1.3.3.x releases because 1.3.4 sounds like a successor of 1.3.3. Now i found a little preview of Scribus 1.3.5 which will hopefully hit the streets soon.
If you using Ubuntu, you can get this SVN build easy:
