Surfing around at
Planet Gnome brings me to
Gloobus, a nice and handy preview addon inspired by the preview of
Mac OS X and Coverflow. For me the most interesting part is the
Coverflow effect integration into Nautilus.
The bad news is that witout rebuilding Nautilus only the normal
Gloobus 0.4 is available as a Deb archive. A really nice goody is that is install GTK PixBuf Loader for support of Photoshop PSD and GIMP XCF files to the entire Gnome desktop. So any Gnome graphics viewer (like EOG, F-Spot or gThumb) can preview these formats too.
If you like these features don't forget to support the project by a donation!

After the last security updates 8.1.3 and 8.1.4 now the
new Adobe Reader 9.1 is available for Linux too. Like ever it isn't the fast PDF viewer for daily usage (like
Envince) but it is the best PDF viewer for prepress.

Envince and a lot of other PDF viewers are great for the daily usage. But working with PDF documents for prepress the best at all is always the Adobe PDF Reader. Due some security issues Adobe updated it now to
version 8.1.3.
The Adobe Reader is available in various languages as a Deb and RPM archive too, so its easy for you to install it. You can get it via the
Medibuntu Repository too.

The new release of
XnView 1.92 is available. Improved features, more supported file formats and bugfixes, all in detail can be read
here.
It is a Windows application (the Linux version is outdated and got a ugly GUI) but with some tweaks and a actual release of
Wine it runs perfect on Linux too. There are some tweaks for let it running smooth:
* tell XnView in the options (F12) to use the registry for store settings (if not any settings get lost after closing XnView)
* change the ugly Win95 colors of Wine by running the Wine registry editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors and setup the colors you like. You can
tweak the GUI to give it the look of your desktop.
