Tweaking Wine

, , , , , , ,

I spend some time too tweak Wine a little bit more for a better look of Windows apps on my Ubuntu Linux. I created a color theme and a registry file for import (wine regedit ubuntu_colors.reg) into the wine registry editor.
I know Wine can load Windows styles and there are nice ones like Clearlooks and Human, but my experiences are that these themes let Wine runing slow.

Thanks a bunch! clearlooks was nice but incredibly sluggish and I can tweak all the colors to my liking!

Jep, same experience i made. I made such a color theme for QT apps too so i have overall a similiar look of all apps an GNOME.

Nice work! I've been running versions of Windows portable apps (http://portableapps.com) from my iPod, and wanted to keep using them when I came back to Linux. That means I can keep settings and configs the same no matter which platform I'm on, like at work where it's windows only, and we can't install anything. Wine works, and I love it, but it is truly ugly. I have seen the slowness you referred to while running Windows themes. Your reg import is a very good compromise.

Thanks For Sharing This. :)

Love the Ubuntu colours reg file. So much better than the windows 95 style boringness. Thanks a lot :)

I think this one blends better into the gutsy-human theme, but i know it's subjective
