Arrghh. Web design. Where to start, well as a total noob to all things bright and beautiful on the web I can't help but sometimes feel slightly overwhelmed. It's not that I'm computer illiterate, just that my arts degree background didn't really give me much of a grounding in thinking 'code'.

I was joking to my fiancee that I am trying to think of things in markup and more specifically, HTML and CSS. I said I was joking, but seems like a good idea to me. Just to keep your brain on the hook to try and apply anything learned mentally before doing it in code. Well in fact I do this anyway I'm sure because I try my ideas and sometimes just don't have the necessary knowledge to do what I'm imagining. I can be honest and say that sometimes this is a disappointment. But then I've decided I'm not going to give up on it. It's something I've become really passionate about so I'm just determined to learn as much as I can.

Getting back to the coding issue, I did what's known in the UK as a G.C.S.E in computing. Fact is my tutor was a complete slacker (just like my math tutor) and completely screwed us over by not telling us what we were required to do for our portfolio. I ended up with below a pass and couldn't take it further as the rules stated it.

I know a guy who programs in C++ for the aerospace industry and with his degree he was able to bag a web design job right out of uni for a few months while he looked for something more 'advanced'.

I have a lot of catching up to do, but I'll be damned if I don't fight tooth and nail to get where I want to go.

Just like that guy who steps out of the The Time Machine into the future in that movie, he looks at the bilboard and it says to him:
