Seriously now....music

, , , ...

How about a serious blog? Since this week has been fairly sparse.

Music. I haven't written about music yet. So where to go this this postulation? Well just like many good mannered people I like a great deal of what professional musicians bring to the world. I'm not really stuck anymore just to one style. I mean, true that in my teens I loved metal, but as I've matured , like wine, I've got better at it.

I can freely admit that the fact that Audioslave have disbanded has saddened me somewhat, but even though their music was still rich with good music and lyrics, they did seem to loose what their debut album promised: Which was a ball busting rock'n'roll bonaza. Still if Chris Cornell is going his own way to record, I'm gonna be buying cause that guy has truly great expression in his voice. Words do flow into wonderous melodies with him.

Still I've always been into the likes of Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. The guitar affords some amazing music in the hands of these guys, and I really think that as long as they live they will be making records and I personally will always buy them. Many episodes of my life have their records etched into the background. When I listen to them again..the music floods my mind with memories, feelings, hopes, fears and loves.

I read recently of a backlash against the Chilli Peppers for 'what they had become'. Most of these arguments surrounding this band disgust me. The richness of their music is wholy tempered by their experiences as individuals, and if you know anything about any of them, you can be sure to raise an eyebrow in admiration for what they have achived personally: battling with demons few of us ever can know. Still their music is solid, lyrical and almost spiritually wholesome. I can only wonder at what this band can do with a bass, drums guitar and vocals.

There are many other great bands, too many to mention here of course, but what music gives to each of us in our own way does enrich our lives, and each person has their own interpretation. Something which is unique to music; Every person can decide to inculde it in their experience and live off the worth that it contributes to our lives.
