TN matrix LCD test picture

, , ,

Have you ever wanted to check if your (cheap) LCD panel displays full 24bit palette (16,777,216 colors)? I did. Unfortunately, it's really very hard to find some good test pictures in Internet.

Tired of browsing Google, I've prepared my own and now YOU can test YOUR panel too. For absolutely free. More - you can share this method with your friends. It's patent free!

Just open this picture in your browser window. If you are able to notice flickering (try to move browser window up-down for better effect), it means, your LCD panel only pretends to displays 16 million of colors. In fact, there is only 262,144 (64 shades of each color).

EXPLANATION: TN panel uses some kind of interlacing method to emulate part of colors. That's the way you can see flickering on panel with these matrixes. Advantage of this type of panels is faster response time of pixel at displayed colors expense.
