Why do we read quran? (MORAL LESSON)

An old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Quran. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.
One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa! I try to read the Quran just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Qur'an do?"
The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water."
The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.
The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.
At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!"
"So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket."
The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.
"Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur'an. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of Allah in our lives."

If you want to rememeber a whole book, you'll fail. But if you have the time to read a lot of times, everytime you'll catch more... You have not to learn by mind like a poem.
I'd like to read the Corano (Quran, in Italian)... I red the Bible only few years ago, and, instead, the Vangelo hundred times...
I think these books are all sacred: all of them tell good things. You have only to catch them, not to learn them like a list.
There are a lot of Muslims in Italy, but we still are not used to their kind of dressing, but their difference aren't a problem: it's only a matter of attire: we all dress of white, beige or black!!! Blah.
I'm sad to say many of them seem to not have red a page on their sacred text, and treat us like invaders, not like host... :-(
It's a shame. Our cultures are like brothers or cousins... We are happy to have them in our home...
Sometimes I had to put a foulard on my head for protection against wind, or a chinese dress, when I liked to dress new... and people looked at me, like I was an alien! It's the same thing when I speak... Different dialects from the north to the south... It's usual.

You get NOTHING from Qur'an if you don't understand it and follow it. Reciting Qur'an without understanding has been a tradition in our society since generations and our so-called scholars have appreciated this concept and practice to just make people fool. This email has NO beautiful story, this is just an appreciation to the wrong belief.
Remember this for the rest of you life, Qur'an gives you a way to spend your life and if this doesn't show up in your daily life then it has no meanings whether you read it 50 times or 5000 times. Qur'an is NOT a MAGIC that will purify you automatically, You will have to PRACTICE this ART of LIVING to purify yourself. Reciting Qur'an without understanding is the main reason why muslims today have no respect anywhere in the world. Do you know any book in this world which is read without understanding? Always keep in your mind that Qur'an was revealed in Arabic and the first addressees were Arabs so to understand it, you will have to understand the language that was spoken at that time and what terminologies arabs used to use in their daily conversation and what was their traditions.
See, All your DEEN had to be derived from Qur'an and you considered it as a book of SAWAAB!!! Weird !! Don't you think it might have been a conspiracy against Qur'an?

I'd like to read something, and once I found the Qur'an in a large shop... but I had to admit I wasn't understanding...
I watched the original version and the page with the translation, but only like I was watching a great painter's masterpiece...
I think there have to be some courses... or... boh?
It's hard to me to read this ancient books without a proper help or without a interpretation.

i think you got a little too much frightened beforehand. Well if you understand English then it should not be any problem for you.
Usually English translations are easy to understand ,of course it depends on the translator. Some translations use old English because it matches the Quranic Arabic rather more exactly if not perfectly.
Alternately you can start from taking & following the basics of God's guidance, because its all about how to live this life!
And in my opinion you dont need a course since in Quran God says that Quran is made for giving guidance to all people,of all communities & religions. And it has been made easy to understand and follow!!
