The Small Farmers Journal is a family owned business that was created in 1976. The types of business they cater on are agricultural periodical and book publishing, natural farming and stock raising, alternative farm research/inquiry, horsedrawn implement research & development, horsedrawn equipment sales and other related education. The family believes in farming as the way of life instead of what other farmers might believe that farming is an industrial process.

The Small Farmers Journal is also run the business with a strong sense of ethical conviction based on their beliefs. There are choices in life that we make and stand by with the owners of the Small Farmers Journal they chose to make farming as their way of life. By making farming as a way of life we do not only benefit from it but also the rest of the world. Some of the principles that the Small Farmers Journal follow are that people belong in agriculture, that farming is a noble craft and other principles that will reflect how farming should be.

A Horsedrawn Auction And Swap Meet sponsored by the Small Farmers Journal will be held on April 17 and April 18, 2009. It will be held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds at 430 Fairgrounds Road in Madras, Oregon. Everyone from the visitors to the vendors are invited to participate and enjoy this Horsedrawn Auction And Swap Meet.

The Horsedrawn Auction And Swap Meet will feature live stock auctions, equipment auctions and swap meet. There will also other activities that the visitors will enjoy. There is no admission fee. Parking spaces are for $5.00 per vechile.

The auction will set up and check in on April 15 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 P.M. and April 16 from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. On April 17 from 8:00 until the auction is done. There will be the tack, harness, small items, and antiques in the arena until noon. The Blacksmithing and Farrier tools will be from noon onwards. Then from 1:00 P.M. until dark there will be Farm implements and misc. large items outside the arena.

On April 18 from 8 am till dark in the arena Harness, carriage related small items and antiques will be auction from 8:00 am to 10:30 am. Then there will be Carriages, Wagons, Coaches, and Sleighs etc. from 10:30 am till dark or the auction will be done. April 19th from10:00 A.M. there will be a Horse Sale in the arena then after this all remaining items that have not been sold will be presented again.
