But I think P1i is a very good pda-phone and useful too. After flashing to the latest firmware upgrade, the phone loads program faster, navigate the menu faster and everything seems to be faster than before. I like its ability to use wi-fi and I use the feature a lot to download weather forecast report, currency exchange rates, rss feeds. Since WorldMate is free now, you don't need to pay to get these forecasts and updates reports. Also, there are definitely good software that take advantage of the phone wi-fi/internet capability such as ShoZu where you can get ZuCast (kind of like podcast or webcast) where you get about 2-3 minutes news updates, celebrity photos, etc. ShoZu also works with Flickr and some other blog sites such as Wordpress. And then there is Blogger where you can post blog and picture directly to blogspot.com account.
My complaint is that the font does not look nice sometimes especially when it is in white and there are few software available right now. There is no native search function although a third-party developer has come up with a search function but somehow it's limited to contact, messages, emails, etc. I've tried the Easy Search but it is not as sophisticated yet ie you can't do a wildcard search correct me if I am wrong.
Otherwise, I am happy with its WiFi function and stable Opera web browser which can handle most webpages.

To be frank, I like the 990 more than P1 ini terms of overall hardware and flip close for one hand usage. The things I really admire about P1 is the smaller physical size and those oodles of RAM which is really-really delicious... Can run tons of applications without worrying them being killed
In terms of UI configuration, I found the SoftkeyStyle Touch in P1i is easier to use than the P990's PenStyle. The Menu is laid out at the bottom and less finger-stretch needed to operate P1.
@kamalzack
Indeed P1 is an excellent smartphone but I dont think it's worthy to be called the successor to the P990 because simply, it doesnt have flip closed mode as found on all other previous P series ...
Easy Search can do wildcard search (e.g. *.xls) I have the latest version and will publish my review on AAS when it's completed. I really like that app because it can be used as an additional UI to the existing apps where you can search and launch files that you want...
@ares
Yes. I like the P1 but not loving it. Among my biggest gripe is the rocker QWERTY feels cheap, it is not as comfortable as the P990's QWERTY. I meant the convex feel when you type, i.e. the click, not the design. I can live with the rocker style.
Another complaint, the back and the internet buttons need to be humped/raised a bit because it's located deep and hard to press. This is subjective of course...
Anyway... Gonna play with P1 heavily today coz I only have another couple of days with it..
Cheers!
