Ewan interviews UIQ Technology CEO, Johan Sandberg

, , , ...

This one is taken straight from AAS. "Johan Sandberg has been a busy man in the last few weeks, with announcements from UIQ and a number of new devices from partners for the Chistmas season making an impact. I managed to catch up with him at the recent CTIA Wireless and Entertainment Show in San Francisco to find out what's going on in the world of UIQ.

We touch on a number of issues in this interview from CTIA in San Francisco, starting with the impact of the ownership by Sony Ericsson and then Motorola coming along and taking a 50% stake. What sort of practices do UIQ have in place to treat their owners and other licencees fairly? And have they learned anything from observing Nokia’s push to make S60 a platform over a number of handset manufacturers?

And of course UIQ isn’t developed in a vacuum, there’s a huge history to the product that has influenced UIQ3, and competing devices are constantly introduced to the market, including the Apple iPhone. Can hype ever rival technology?"

I have listened to the podcast and I enjoyed it. Johan explains the decision behind what happened in UIQ in the last couple of weeks and also some insight of the UIQ future... Check this out!
Multimedia from All About Symbian

Multimedia never be the same again with CorePlayer Mobile!!!

, , ,

One of the most frustrating thing to do nowadays when it concerns with watching mobile videos is the different formats and standards used. There's the common AVI, WMV, MPG, MP4 and MOV files with some other less unknown like OGM and MKV. If there's not enough, with current UIQ 3 application catalogue (and I believe S60 3rd Edition as well), no mobile media player can play any files without conversion. It's really a pain in the arse when I want to watch my favourite cartoon on the way to work, I need to convert/transcode them to MP4 files to be played in the built-in Video Player on P990. I prefer MP4 container to AVI because IMHO, it sounds better on earphones.

CorePlayer Mobile UIQ 3 displaying photos

I'm currently writing a long and comprehensive review of CorePlayer Mobile for Symbian UIQ 3 and S60 3rd Edition which will be published on AAS when it's completed. This is the ULTIMATE mobile multimedia player. Not only it plays videos and audios, it's also can be used to view photos.

Tell me what do you think about CorePlayer? Have you installed it on your device yet? If not, get it from http://www.coreplayer.com
