TV vs. DVDs

The worst thing about being ill is that it's so damn boring. I generally don't watch much TV, but when I am ill I usually watch a lot of junk TV, and I hate it.
So this time I decided to do things differently. Reading makes my headache worse, so I have watched DVDs instead. Five of them until now to be precise.
First I saw "Blinkende Lygter" ("Flickering Lights"), a Danish movie about four small gangsters from Copenhagen who trick a gangster boss: They take over 4,000,000 kroner which they were supposed to bring him. It's a comedy; basically about the hope that can grow out of desperation. A very cool movie. If you can get your hands on it, you should watch it. And it comes with English subtitles as well.

Then I saw "Blades of Glory".
It is about two rival Olympic ice skaters who were stripped of their gold medals and permanently banned from men's single competition. However they discover a loophole that will allow them to qualify as a pairs team.
A comedy, non-committal but entertaining.
"Hitch" was up next. A romantic comedy where Will Smith plays a "date-doctor", who knows what works with women and teaches the guys who do not do well with them some tricks of the trade. Then he finds a girl who he falls for and everything that he thinks he knows does not work out for himself. I like this movie - in fact I think Will Smith plays better in this one than in most of his action movies.
I have a DVD called "Pixar Short Films Collection, vol. 1", which I also watched yesterday.
Pixar has made so many cool short films. The latest ones are their best if you ask me, and the "For The Birds"-film from the photo here is my favourite.
(I just Googled it, and some of the small birds have actually got names: Bully, Chipper, Snob and Neurotic. It suits them very well!
)
The last one I saw yesterday was "The Green Mile". There are so many positive things I could write about this film, but basically it is a story about the lives of guards on death row leading up to the execution of a giant black man accused of child murder and rape, who has the power of faith healing. I absolutely love this film, as I loved the book. An extra bonus about seeing the movie instead of reading the book is actor David Morse. I love him in this movie!
So... apart from sleeping and blogging, this is pretty much what I have been doing the last two days.

One day they'll have real TV on demand. You'll have a listing of available programmes for the week and get to pick what to watch at any time with the ability to pause, rewind, fast forward like on DVDs. Only thing is they'll have to have unchangable adverts for funding.

@ Mik ~ You know, I actually had the same thought when I wrote this post, that it is close that The Green Mile-movie is better than the book. But then I thought I better read it again before I state that!

Are you feeling any better?

Some penicillins are like shotguns - they fire away at no particular goal which can make them take some time before working (if at all). I do hope you feel much better by Friday, but if you don't - I hope you can get something that gets you well asap!

I know, it's just not easy to patiently wait for something to happen, when all I want to do is to get well right away. *Sighs* And now my back is starting to give me trouble from all that lying down. Damn.
Very good idea, Mik, thank you! I will do that! Then I will see if I can keep my eyes shut when Will & Grace are on.
