Hancock

,

John Hancock is a homeless bum who has a seriously bad attitude along with a horrible drinking problem. But he also is different: He is a super hero. The problem about that? He causes a lot of damage when he "saves the day" and doesn't care what people think. But when a failing advertiser, Ray Embroy, is saved by John, Ray offers John a chance to look good and be the ultimate super hero. Ray's wife, Mary, isn't so excited about it but Ray is determined and will make sure that Hancock is a great super hero for the whole city.

It's an action movie, and I liked the effects in it. Sure there were scenes I could have lived without - long fighting scenes gets boring so fast!

During the last half hour the movie took a twist I didn't see coming, and I didn't really like that twist. It made the comedy not-so-funny anymore.

I am in a good mood. I'll give it :star::star::star::star: out of 6.

I didn't see this film and I don't see it

attilasoul 27. July 2008, 03:24

@ Carol ~

@ Becky ~ I love seeing all kinds of films, and sometimes during the summer there are so few to choose from.

b_laudanum 27. July 2008, 03:28

that's ok Tilla! I'm not criticing you for seeing this movie... I just don't wanna see cos I'm not a fan of Will Smith... I liked him in 'The pursuit of Happiness'... he was really good in that movie, but in general he's not that 'wow'... you know?

attilasoul 27. July 2008, 04:02

I didn't see many of his movies, but generally I think he is about to become an ok actor. I never saw him in The pursuit of Happiness though. Or did I? Now I suddenly don't remember if I saw it or not - maybe it's because it's 6 o'clock Sunday morning and I only had 4 hours of sleep!

Dacotah 27. July 2008, 05:14

:D @ Tilla
 I hope you can get some sleep.

Spaggyj 27. July 2008, 05:29

I definately want to see this - not for the story, particularly, but for the acting of Will Smith. He's very good! To be honest, the story sounds a bit rubbish... But I'll see it anyway.

Furie 27. July 2008, 05:46

The Pursuit Of Happyness (yeah, that's how they spell it in the film) is one of the best films I've seen. Both he and his son act the roles perfectly and the bit in the train station bathroom is some of the best acting I've ever seen.

attilasoul 27. July 2008, 06:48

Thank you Carol. Tonight I intend to sleep like a baby!

@ Kimmie ~ There is not much of a story in this one, but Will Smith is good at filling out the role as a drunk superhero.

@ Mik ~ Now that I am more awake, I remember that I did actually see that movie. I didn't review it here though, I only do that to the ones I see in the cinema. I liked it though.

Dacotah 27. July 2008, 08:35

You are welcome.

jrd2498 27. July 2008, 14:15

Yeah Will Smith rocks! :headbang:

b_laudanum 27. July 2008, 14:18

I agree with Mik! Will Smith rocked on that movie!

ripp2002 27. July 2008, 15:23

I thought the movie was good. I liked the twist at the end; it made it differant than more of the other superhero characters etc...

Furie 27. July 2008, 16:07

If the twist at the end is that he's really insane and not actually a hero, but beating up random strangers then it's stolen from my idea for a survival horror video game.

attilasoul 27. July 2008, 16:48

@ JD & Becky ~ Yes, Will Smith has been developing after being the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. :D

@ Ripp ~ I like the first 2/3 of it better than the last third. But well, it get very different reviews, from it sucked to it touched the stars. :D

@ Mik ~ That's not the end, that's the beginning!

Cois 27. July 2008, 17:40

Can't wait to see this movie although some reviews say its only Will Smith that made it work..

attilasoul 27. July 2008, 17:44

I think Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman played well also.

sugarwinx 27. July 2008, 19:35

U spoilt it for me and I was gonna watch this...

attilasoul 27. July 2008, 19:39

You can only watch it with me!

ripp2002 27. July 2008, 19:51

It would have been better if they released the R version of the movie. That DVD will be a lot better than the movie. It is about 30 minutes longer than the one released in the theatres.

I dont know about it touching the stars

sugarwinx 27. July 2008, 20:36

No. U spoiled it...

I'm watching it now!! I have the bootleg video! :D

attilasoul 28. July 2008, 04:08

Oh, I didn't know there was a R version of this movie. Have you seen it, Ripp? And if you have - how did you get your hands on that?

ripp2002 28. July 2008, 04:16

No I have not seen it because it has not been released yet. Apparently they (they directors, producers etc...) went with the PG-13 version for theatres to open up the audience and make money. The R version will be released as a DVD or at least that is what the information I read stated.

attilasoul 28. July 2008, 04:19

I see. I usually don't read much about the films I see before I see them, I prefer to save it till afterwards. Sometimes it's funny how you either totally agree with what you read about the film, or not.

ok, that didn't even make sense to me. awww

rose-marie 28. July 2008, 08:10

Did you notice his sunglasses on the poster? I think they change the image in them for each country. Over here, you can see the famous Holmenkollen ski jumping arena :D.

attilasoul 28. July 2008, 09:57

I didn't check, but I think it was just some tall buildings, obviously a big city. I'll pass the cinema on my way home later, I'll stop and check! :D

rose-marie 28. July 2008, 10:37

Here's the Norwegian one:

attilasoul 28. July 2008, 11:14

This should be the Danish one. I don't recognize the buildings...

rose-marie 28. July 2008, 13:32

Hmm... Me neither :sherlock:
Maybe they only did it in some countries then? I heard they used the opera house in Sydney in Australia.

attilasoul 28. July 2008, 13:44

Hmm, I'd at least expected Round Tower on the Danish one! :irked:

:D

ripp2002 28. July 2008, 15:35

The sunglasses thing is pretty cool. I never noticed.

attilasoul 28. July 2008, 16:57

I didn't notice either. I found the Swedish one:

rose-marie 28. July 2008, 19:28

Ah yes, that would be Stockholm. It is a pretty cool idea.

qlue 28. July 2008, 22:05

It makes me wonder what South Africa's one would be.

Cois 29. July 2008, 01:16

Some shacks reflecting? And a lion..

ripp2002 29. July 2008, 02:21

 they dont have movie theatres in SA  qlue you are too funny  how can they have a movie theatre without power?

Furie 29. July 2008, 10:42

They have got power. Better have anyway. I donated 50p towards a generator for Africa ages ago.

attilasoul 29. July 2008, 10:46

Maybe my battery charger were made for those without power...

jrd2498 1. August 2008, 02:11

@LC: :lol:

ripp2002 1. August 2008, 04:04

Furie, the hand crank broke on that generator and they havent been able to find another person willing to crank it 24/7 like the first guy

Furie 1. August 2008, 15:28

Maybe you can do it? How's your wrist strength? p:

ripp2002 2. August 2008, 04:11

I dont work without compensation!!!

On the other hand (litterally) my wrist only works in bursts of about 12 seconds with 72 hours rest between sets

Furie 2. August 2008, 09:30

Dare I ask how you tested this theory? Or can I just assume you were a teenaged boy at one point in your life? :left:

ripp2002 2. August 2008, 13:22

:eyes: I am still a teenager; not willing to grow up and be some old fucking jackass Homer: Doh! I mean adult.

jrd2498 3. August 2008, 00:20

 yeah LC is still a teenager.

Cois 3. August 2008, 13:56

 so no handcrank guy then? Darn.. Now I'll have to wait till I get it on dvd.. nice to have connections..

qlue 17. August 2008, 11:08
