Det Som Ingen Ved ~ What Nobody Knows

,

As I mentioned in my previous post, I went to the cinema yesterday. I went to see a Danish movie this time. The story is about Thomas (played by Anders W. Berthelsen, an actor I really like), who is an entertainer for kids. His sister tells him that she has something to tell him about their father, who worked in the military intelligence service. They agree to meet in Sweden the day after, but when he arrives she has drowned under mysterious circumstances.

He goes through her appartment and finds some papers with explosive information about their late father's past. As Thomas digs deeper into the case his family is brought into sudden danger.

This is a political thriller about what can happen when patriotism turn into obsession. About hiding the truth when it becomes too inconvenient. About the surveillance that is everywhere in our society these days. Is it really ok that big brother is watching us?

This movie has some big Danish actors in it, and they played marvellously! The plot was kind of weak though.

:star::star::star::star::star: out of 6.

Mmmmmmmmmm...From Medical Records...

I wish we have more movies like that here in Serbia. The last one I have seen is "Četvrti čovek" (Fourth man) but even though a story was good and actors were playing well, the lack of money was obvious. Our cinematography is not on its highest level at the moment

I am sorry to hear that, Darko. Our filmmakers do pretty good, and in general I think they make some good films. This movie was made with not much extra lights, you know, so the atmosphere got very intense at times. I liked that!

I have Cetvri Covek but I've only seen parts of it. It seems to be a really good movie for my taste, at least.

We'll probably not get it over here... Which is a shame, because it sounds pretty good.

I think it's a shame that English speaking countries prefer movies where the actors speak English. You'll miss a lot of good movies that way.

Hmmm, I just posted about some unwanted surveillance. We're getting in sync with our posts again like with the Dark Knight and Killing Joke posts. Time to find something really obscure tomorrow..

Sounds like an interesting film. :sherlock:

I think my post for tomorrow will be for the wolfie. :D

Dannii you have this movie?

Wow! A big hit for a Serbian cinematography

Hey my dear friend  No! I didn't die P: I'm still alive. How are you?
Ohh I wish I could watch a Danish movie someday. They must be very good.

Attila 9. August 2008, 20:06

Hiya André, long time no see! I am alive as well, feeling pretty good today. It might be because I am almost off to bed by now. P:
Some of the Danish movies are available in other countries. I saw a couple of them in China for instance, with very funny subtitles!

Andre 10. August 2008, 21:54

I'm happy you're okay
Well, I haven't found them in Brazil. I'm gonna take a look at some movie stores.

I usually like Danish movies, so I'll most likely rent this when it gets here :D.

Attila 30. August 2008, 04:32

Do you have a favourite Danish movie, Rose?

r♡se 30. August 2008, 10:02

It's hard to pick one... I liked the first Pusher movie. And Festen is great too. Oh, and Nattevakten. They did an American remake of that starring Ewan McGregor.

Attila 30. August 2008, 13:58

I loved Nattevagten! I haven't seen the American one yet, since I think it's silly that they can't just accept a movie in a different language than English.

r♡se 30. August 2008, 14:04

I rented it by mistake once :frown:. Not as good as the original by far.
Anyway, the original was the first time I saw Kim Bodnia - one of my favourite Danish actors :D.

Attila 30. August 2008, 14:06

Kim Bodnia is a cool actor, I like him too!
I saw the price on the American version of Nattevagten is low now, less than 50 Dkr, so perhaps I should give it a go, at least I have the right to talk bad about it if I buy it.
