The Candidate ~ Kandidaten

,

I went to see another Danish movie yesterday, a thriller.

The talented defence lawyer Jonas is working hard to achieve his goals. His dad died under mysterious circumstances, and that bothers him, but now he is aiming to get his job at the big advokat office. Everything goes wrong at the job interview though. The boss, who is also Jonas' godfather, discovers his obsession of his dad's unsolved case, and rejects to give him the job.

Frustrated and disillusioned he takes a wild night out, drinking his brains out and ends up in bed with a girl he doesn't know. When he wakes up he finds himself in a rented hotel room, and the girl is laying dead on the bathroom floor. Brutally murdered.

He doesn't remember anything of what happened the night before, and soon he is charged for a murder he didn't commit. Or did he? His best friend and his girlfriend begin to doubt, and he has to flee alone. He is being dragged deeper and deeper into a criminal underworld, where nothing is what it seems to be.

I liked this movie, it was a good thriller, with a surprising plot. It had some great actors too! The Danish critics didn't like it much, and it caused a lot of publicity in the media when one critic gave both the murderer and the plot away in his review. Idiot.

And? What happened at the end?
You got all of my attention now, and because it is Danish movie I may be never in a position to see it :frown:
Since I Kina Spiser de Hunde, we had few Danish movies on TV mostly, and I liked some of them.

@ Darko ~ I will not tell you what happened at the end - only in a PM - I don't want to risk to be called an idiot for giving it away.
I Kina spiser de hunde is also a good Danish movie.

@ Cois ~ And? Did you like them? :left:

Sounds good

Attila 21. September 2008, 10:49

It was good. I guessed who the killer was though, about 45 minutes before the film ended.

When bored then I'd watch anything.. p: the flicks I saw was kinda low budget comedies.. For the life of me I can't remember the names! they weren't half bad..

Attila 21. September 2008, 11:13

Ah well, it's not important anyway. Like any other country, Denmark makes both good and bad movies. To the better side the last decade though.

Sounds good - although you might have given away some information three comments up p:.

Were there any actors I might know?

Attila 21. September 2008, 18:44

Yes, possibly. Nikolaj Lie Kaas had the main role. Ulf Pilgård was there too - he is such a cool actor. Then there was Kim Bodnia and a lot of other pretty cool Danish actors.

r♡se 21. September 2008, 18:51

Kim Bodnia? Then I'm sold and will definitely keep an eye out for this one .

Didn't they all play in Nattevagten?

Attila 21. September 2008, 20:16

No, not Nikolaj Lie Kass. But you're close. It was Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who played main role in Nattevagten.

Darko 21. September 2008, 20:20

Kim Bodnia is  actor

Attila 21. September 2008, 20:22

I agree. It's not a big part he has in this movie though.

r♡se 22. September 2008, 07:41

Oh yeah! Homer: Doh! Nikolaj and Nikolaj... p:

Attila 22. September 2008, 13:04

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is way more hot than Nikolaj Lie Kaas, imho.

See: Coster Waldau:
