comics, cartoons
Another one of my favourite cartoons is Calvin and Hobbes, drawn by Bill Watterson.
Calvin is an imaginative six-year old boy. He has a stuffed tiger, Hobbes, who is energetic and sardonic and cute. The pair are named after John Calvin, a 16th century French Reformation theologian, and Thomas Hobbes, a 17th century English political philosopher. The strip was syndicated from November 18, 1985 to December 31, 1995.
I never get tired of Calvin's funny ideas.

I saw Ghost Rider even though Nicolas Cage hasn't impressed me in his latest movies.
When the motorcyclist Johnny Blaze finds that his father Barton Blaze has a terminal cancer, he accepts a pact with the Mephistopheles, giving his soul for the health of his beloved father. But the devil deceives him, and Barton dies in a motorcycle accident during an exhibition. Johnny leaves the carnival, his town, his friends and his girlfriend Roxanne. Years later Johnny Blaze becomes a famous motorcyclist, who risks his life in his shows, and he meets Roxanne again, now a TV reporter. However, Mephistopheles proposes Johnny to release his contract if he become the "Ghost Rider" and defeat his evil son Blackheart, who wants to possess one thousand evil souls and transform hell on earth.
The film is based on a Marvel cartoon and that shows clearly. There were many scenes in it that made me laugh because they seemed ridiculous. But I must say - the film was well made. There were many stunning effects in it.

... or 'Pan's Labyrinth'.
A new Spanish fantasy movie. In 1944 in fascist Spain, a girl, fascinated with fairy-tales, is sent along with her pregnant mother to live with her new stepfather, who is a ruthless captain of the Spanish army. During the night, she meets a fairy who takes her to an old fawn in the center of a labyrinth. He tells her she's a princess, but must prove her royalty by surviving three gruesome tasks. If she fails, she will never prove herself to be the the true princess and will never see her real father, the king, again.
This picture is the beast from her second task.
This movie was not at all like I expected, I liked the historical view in the movie. I thought it was all fantasy, but it surely wasn't. I will give it

(out of 6).
I'm going to watch the movie again when it's out on DVD

favourite, cartoons
Before Marilyn and Madonna, Betty booped and wriggled her way into hearts worldwide with her unique mix of wide-eyed innocence and powerful cartoon sensuality. Although she made her film debut as a curvaceous canine cabaret singer in the Max Fleischer short "Dizzy Dishes" on August 9, 1930, Betty Boop remains animation's first leading lady and a glamorous international icon.

Betty Boop is one my favourite cartoon characters. She's smart, sexy, wise and yet still sort of vulnarable. She can do anything. She is soooo cool
