Orchid

, ,

Orchid comes from Greek mythology, Orchid = Orkhis.

In Greek mythology, Orchis was the son of a nymph and a satyr. During a celebratory feast for Bacchus, Orchis committed the sacrilege of attempting to rape a priestess, resulting in his being torn apart by wild beasts, then metamorphosing into a slender and modest plant.

I know the story is not pretty, but at least the flower is.

The First Bee

, , ,

The weather has been amazingly good for some days now. Sunny and warm, just the way I love it!
I went for a walk in the park the other day, and the tulips sure look like they enjoy the sun as well:

After having toddled along for a while I suddenly saw something that made me very happy: A bee! The first proof that macro season has started! He is cute, right? - And greedy too, look at all that nectar he collected already!
He didn't like the flash much though; he kept moving to another flower each time it went off! :D

Flowers in the park

Here is a couple of photos from my walk in the park yesterday. It was sunny and clear, but only 6-8 degrees Celcius, so it was cold. I could feel that the sun has gotten more powerful now though, so I think spring is just around the corner! Anyway, here goes:

Crocus, the true spring announcer:

I thought it was a funny effect that you can actually the the shadow from the leaf below it.

I think this is a cherry blossom. I love these, they are so pretty.

Spring-ish

The weather has been so fine this weekend. Sunny and more than 10 degrees Celcius! I went for a walk, and here are some signs that proves that it won't be long now before it's spring.

Snowdrops.
In Danish it is called a "vintergæk", which can be translated into "winter's fool".

The Watch List

, , ,

Something weird is going on with my watch list these days.

I am not thinking about the fact that some posts seem to be very hard to get rid of on the list. Nor the fact that some "friends only"-posts don't appear on my list, even though I am a friend.

No, many of the blogs and posts I have been watching, now suddenly are "un-watched", which means I am not being notified if something new is posted. That goes for both friends' blogs and other "unknown" bloggers. And it goes for both new posts and old ones.

So if I usually visit your blog, and I suddenly don't come by anymore, this may be the reason. I will run through my friends list today and tomorrow to check how many I have "lost".

Here's a flower to look at while you wait

New model

, ,

I just got myself a new model. Beautiful and cool and able to stand completely still when I am photographing her.

I like close up photos. The closer the better. I like that people stop and ponder when they see my photos.

Would you like to see a full picture of her? Or do you prefer her to be mysterious and distant?

I am still testing my new flash.

I hope this will make people smile.

Have a great Sunday!
