Everyday life, Food
I went to the supermarket yesterday morning to buy some groceries. You know, just the usual, bread, meat, vegetables, milk...
When I reached the milk, I was surprised to see a new brand of milk there, that I had never heard of before:
Biodynamic Café Milk, version 1.0.
What the hell...?
When did milk start to come in versions? And what do they mean, café milk? The price on this milk was 50% higher than the price on regular milk, and except for the name it just looked like regular milk.
The world is getting weird. Very weird.

Obviously there has to be a food post, right?!
I love Italian food, so I was looking very much forward to get "the real thing". I was curious to see if it was as good as I expected, or maybe even better? I mean, having Italian here, is not necessarily the same as having Italian food in Italy.
Let me start with the food on the hotel. I stayed in a hotel that was categorized as a **-hotel. Not the worst, but difinitely not the best either. I usually don't spend much time in the hotel, so I'll rather spend my money on other things than that. Anyway. Continental breakfast was included in the price. I don't know what you expect when you hear that phrase, but this is what I got every morning:
Two rolls, 1 quare of butter, 2 cups of jam, two envelopes of sugar. Served with that, coffee or tea. I don't drink anything warm when it's 30-40 degrees Celcius, so I asked for milk or juice. But I could chose: Coffee or tea.
So the next day I brought my own juice and some Nutella to make the dry rolls easier to consume.
Dinner was much better. I always go for the pasta dishes. The best thing I had was Spaghetti alla Carbonara. I can make it myself, but it was great to taste the real thing. And it was so delicious!
Every day I had a new pasta dish, and every day I was full when I left the table. This is Penne della Bolognesa:
Swordfish is their national dish there, and I tasted that too, but I prefer the pasta anytime.
I have to mention the icecream as well. Gelato.
Italians sure know how to make icecream. Soft, creamy, well tasting icecream. My favorites are Nocciola (Hazelnut) and Pistacchio. I had Pesca, Fragola and Limone as well (Peach, Strawberry and Lemon), and they were great too, but not together with the first two. Have them with Vaniglia (Vanilla) instead. Yum!!
When it was time to go home, I had lunch on the plane.
There is nothing much to say about that. It was Chicken Tikka Masala and I ate it because I was hungry.

I have heard that the Danish summer tastes of strawberries. I don't know if it is true, but I do know that I love strawberries. I remember one year when I was just a little girl, my dad and I had strawberries every single day during the summer. It was a wonderful summer that year!
These are Sonata Strawberries. A new crossing between Polka and El Santa. Possibly the sweetest strawberries I have ever had, and I have eaten a lot of them!
These strawberries are from my dad's little garden. I forgot to ask him what sort it is, and as you can see these aren't quite ready to eat yet. I found a couple of red, ripe ones though, and they tasted almost as sweet as the Sonata ones.
Oh yes, it was surely a fantastic weekend this one!

Mmmm, I just had my first strawberries today. Big, red, juicy and very, very tasty.
These are "Honeoye" - originally an American crossing, but is now often grown in Denmark because of their sweet taste. These are usually the first ones on the Danish market.
Yum.

I went to an Italian restaurant the other day, nothing fancy, just a plain restaurant where they serve both pizzas and pasta. I paid with my Visa-card, 251 Danish Kroner (~33 Euros). I wasn't really impressed about the waitress so I decided not to tip her. - This is common in Denmark, tip is included, but you tip if you think service is extraordinary.
I checked my account a couple of days later, and got very surprised to see that the restaurant had drawn 276 Danish kroner (~36.5 Euros) from my account. 3.5 Euros more than I should have paid.
There are two options, as I see it.
1. The waitress decided for herself that she deserved a tip, and took extra money from my account to get it
or
2. The restaurant-owner systematically cheats the costumers by taking extra money from the cards. The smart thing about doing it this way is that he only takes such a small amount that most people wouldn't want to bother to get back.
No matter what the reason is, it's fraud.
So I went to the bank and filled out some papers, that forces them to contact the restaurant and hear their version of the case. And I concider writing a letter about it in the local papers. As I have mentioned before, there is nothing shops fear more than bad press and loosing money.
I know it is only 3.5 Euros, but it's not about the money, it is the principle!

About a year ago I got a recipe for some delicious muffins on sms. It seemed pretty smart then, but now - after I got a new phone - it's pretty annoying. First of all I have to remember where I placed my old phone. Then I have to recharge the battery, and last I need to find a sim-card for it.
Yesterday I was home early, so I decided to bake the muffins. It took me 20 minutes to find the old phone...
So I decided to put the recipe here on my blog so I always know where to find it easily.
TRS (Tilla's Recipe Service) proudly presents:
Carrot Muffins (Low fat, but not low sugar)
2 eggs
200 gram soft brown sugar (7.025 Ounces)
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 dl milk (6.76 fl oz)
200 gram wheat flour (7.025 Ounces)
2-3 carrots, grated
Whip the eggs thoroughly with the sugar. Add the rest of the ingredients, and stir.
Fill the paste into muffin tins and bake them in 20 minutes by 200ºC(392ºF).
Tip: If you want to spice them up a bit, you can add a large handfull of chocolate chips or some chopped hazelnuts.
This one is for you, Cois. See, a muffin can be heart shaped!
And this one was for me.
