Trivia, Denmark
I had a talk the other day with a friend of mine, and one of the topics we discussed was Russia; I remembered that there was a Danish princess who got to be the tsarina of Russia long time ago. That conversation inspired me to this post:
Maria Feodorovna Romanova, born Princess Dagmar of Denmark (1847–1928) was the second daughter of Christian IX of Denmark and Louise of Hesse.Read more...

Trivia, News, Women
8th of March is the International Women's Day. It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women.
Started as a political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries, primarily Russia and the countries of former Soviet bloc.
In some celebrations, the day lost its political flavour, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love to the women around them in a way somewhat similar to Mother's Day and St Valentine's Day mixed together. In others, however, the political and human rights theme as designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner.
The idea of making an International Women's Day is to focus on the lack of equality between the genders, so making it into a "give your woman flowers-day" is ridiculous in my eyes.
The Day was approved by the UN back in 1975. 1975 was International Woman's Year.
My hope is that I live long enough to see the day where men and women are treated equally!

Fun, Trivia
In Pharmacology, all drugs have two names, a trade name and generic name. For example, the trade name of Tylenol also has a generic name of Acetaminophen.
Aleve is also called Naproxen. Amoxil is also called Amoxicillin and Advil is also called Ibuprofen.
The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.
Pfizer Corp. has announced that Viagra will soon be available in liquid form, and will be marketed by Pepsi Cola as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer. It will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one. Obviously we can no longer call this a soft drink, and it gives new meaning to the names of 'cocktails', 'highballs' and just a good old-fashioned 'stiff drink'. Pepsi will market the new concoction by the name of: MOUNT & DO.

favourite, Trivia, theater, reviews
No, I am not writing blog posts about Alphaville and their giant hit from 1984.
No, Forever Young is the title of a play I saw in the theater yesterday.
The play was about what has happened to the youth in Denmark during the last 80 years. And also about what difference the youth made for Denmark during the same period of time. It was a very interesting play, and a total different way to look at Danish history.
I heard about how the youth was almost not excisting in the 1920s and 30s because they had to work from they were very young. How some tried to make a difference in the Resistance during WWII. How the 50s gave us rock'n'roll. How the 60s raised flower power and legalization of porn. How the 70s' youth grew up in shared houses where mom and dad ran around naked - if they were still married, that is. How the 80s gave us those youngsters we call autonomous, the ones that moved into abandoned houses and fought to be able to stay there. How the 90s gave us the European Championship in football, and what that meant to the Danes in general.
The show even gave me a small peek into the future, but I promised to keep it a secret, so you just gonna have to wait and see for yourself.
It was brilliant, I just loved it.

Trivia
Nowadays many women prefer their panties to be small, but circa 1800 the bigger the pant the better. If you looked up under the skirt of a classy lady, you would find a pair of enormous, blousy shorts, that fell below the knee, but in an ironic twist for this overly moral era, each leg was separate - they tied together at the waist. The Victorians claimed the open-crotch design was all about hygiene and that the wind whistling around their nether regions would keep things as fresh as a daisy, despite their infrequent underwear changes.

It was the Parisian cancan dancers that finally sent split knickers to their grave. Not only did they stitch them together, they also chopped them super short to reveal more thigh.
For a while shortie knickers were the only thing to wear under your girdle. The 20s flapper girls loved them because the new shorter style of pants worked with knee-length skirts and resembled men's briefs.
The 60s was the decade that cotton briefs were coronated as the ruler of the underwear kingdom. A whole new generation emerged and these young women wanted to differentiate themselves from their curvy, girdle-wearing moms. These girls preferred denim jeans to pencil skirts, and wore their briefs in basic cotton instead of the silk and nylons their moms favoured. The trend for miniskirts required the knickers to be super short and skimpy.
The 60s icon, Twiggy, preferred her smalls... well.. small, and as with everything the diminuitive supermodel did, the nation soon followed. Hippies also found peace, love and harmony in cotton, after all, it is nature's fabric, and while flower power kids were burning their bras and chanting of free love, cotton underpants were still their underwear of choice.
In the 80s the knickers got a drastic makeover. Women were suddenly more self-conscious and bitten by the work-out bug. To show off some skin, legs were cut higher and higher, a thick waistband finished above the navel and the buttcheeks got a little less coverage.
This new style rocked aerobics classes all over the western world, and can be seen in its full glory in the classic 80s movie "Flashdance", where Jennifer Beal leaps and bounds in high-cut cotton briefs, perfecting her dance routines.
If we look at the beginning of panties history we will see that the options in terms of underwear were quite few. Panties history represents the gradual progress as regards underwear designs that are considered appropriate and acceptable. One of the major landmarks in panties history was the introduction of bikinis and further – thongs.
The strings can be traced all the way back to the late 30s in the USA where the NewYork Mayor ordered the city's nude dancers to cover themselves up. The girls wanted to keep their bottoms bared, so the thong was the thing for them. The thongs got a revival in the 70s in Brazil, where the ladies were only thrilled to show off what God had given them.
