Hunting...

more than the kill

STICKY POST

Hunting

Welcome on my blog, it will be regularly updated ,certainly in autumn and winter. Enjoy my effort for a better understanding of whats hunting is all about. Hunting is so much more than shooting.

I made this widget at MyFlashFetish.com.

Small game hunt

First small game of the season wasn't great, a lot of the small game vanished in the pockets off poachers.

First day pigeons

Luc and i we had a great opener on the woodpigens, 78 pieces and 10 crows.
After the corn was shaved Luc shot a rabbit.

The cleaning is a whole lot of work, but if you don't , you won't have some nice earned meat.

Updated

If you have some time check out this blog from my wife; leaf cactus and datura's but most of all sedums and Sanseveria's.
It's started with a few plants, who knows where it 's gonna stop ? Keeps her occupied

Taking out varmint

This morning i went again to a farmer who keeps cattle for meat. He's been feeding the cattle with potato-peel and it's very attractively for crows and sportpigeons, who lost their way home. They shit on the potato-peels and the cows eat ....shit whit peel. Not so healty if you ask me when you think that when you eat a steak, it's been growed with shit
The farmer is always happy when we come and take away some of the crows and lost sportpigeons. We usually take away each year 50 and more sportpigeons, but ech year the numbers are growing back on, keeping us busy .

Opening new season

First hunt in the new season was succesfull, 3 cana's and 3 nile geese shot.

wasp spider

A spiecies we see a lot here in the high grass. I thought that they would't survive this last, hard winter but they are still here, the spider with a body like a wasp. I've been told that the bite is not poisonous, but feels like a sting of a wasp. The population of the wasp spider has exploded and is spreading rapidly north , comin' from the warmer south with a litlle help from climate change , they say .

Myxomatosis

Myxomatosis is early this year. I went for a walk with my dog and she pointed to me = there's something.

I silently came by her and i see this 3/4 rabbit seeking shelter under a bush. I didn't let the dog take her because i then didn't known if the rabbit was sick or not, so i took my dog away preventing her taking the rabbit.
I saw the red , swollen eyes and i knew immediately what it was : Myxomatosis.

I took the already blind rabbit and helped him ( or her ) out of her suffering.

Underneath is a picture of the swollen eyes with the pus comin' out.

Young Crows

A crowsnest i found this early summer,i think the two youngsters didn't make it .

Thirsty dog

What's the defenition of a good hunting dog ?
