International day of the woman
Thursday, 8. March 2007, 02:09:00
Do you know why this day was created?
The History tell us, that in March 8, 1857, a group of more or less 130 women were unsatisfied with their work conditions, so they went to ask for reduce from 16 hours a day to 10 hours.
In the manifestation, the police catch fire in the factory and so these women died, burned.
It happened in New York.
So, this date is to celebrate the brave and the honor of those women.
Well, we should celebrate this day as a sad rememberance uh? Or, we should be proud of all the conquests women got in all these years.
We should!
But how can we celebrate this day if in this right time, there are lots of women in the whole world that are being spanked, stolen, raped, humiliated, and are in others shameless situations?
How can we celebrate while women in Afrika are mutilated in the name of their god? If women in the lost forest of South American have to sell their bodies to buy food? If teenagers are kids of all around the world are raped and nobody is arrested?
If lots of women in Orient suffer the violence of having their female babies killed because it's not a honor be a women???
It's a shame that til nowadays we have to suffer with the anger of men when we are more efficient! Suffer with sexual siege in our jobs or insults in the streets!
Some kind of jokes as "if you have sex and it doesn't hurt you, why are you crying now?" (I heard many friends of mine that passed this situation when they went to the hospital to have their babies...)
We have to be superheroes, cos we need to have a great job (if you don't, you are constantly theme of jokes), we have to be great housewives (if you don't know even how to fry eggs, you're a mess!), have to be example to our kids (if you loose your head at least once, you're mad!), have to be intelligent (if you admit that you watch soapoperas, you're a shame!) and have to be always, always perfect, beautiful, well-dressed and with incredible hair make-up...
We are always asked to be perfect. We cannot do any mistake. Cos if you do one, somebody will criticize you.
It changes from country to country, but in the whole scenario, women are treated like this. In more or less effects.
In the oldies, we were created to be obedient to our husbands. Now, we are created to be efficient and smarter. When this will stop? When will be treated as a normal human with feelings, disapointments, preferences? When we will be treated with respect?
I don't know a single woman in all my life that haven't passed by some discriminating and humiliation situation...

It really should not happen.
My question though remains, does this only happen to women?
DO we really want total equalisation between genders?
I would much rather charish the differences, but with respect.
Take care Bea:)

yes, I very agree with you! It should be better to respect evrbody not just genders.
It's sad when we see homosexuals or some kind of religion being discriminated...
This always happened since we know History if the world...

You're a lucky one that had respect and love from your mother, and so you can give the respect to women they deserve!!
I, unfortunately, passed by some bad situations, but time taught me not to accept this!
thanks for coming! hugs
