Going to the zoo, on the other hand, is a whole day event. Perhaps it would be a good idea to pack a picnic lunch. However, if the guards restrict you from bringing the food in, simply get a hand stamp and eat in your car before heading back to the zoo.

You may want to consider buying season passes as well. You may not realize it, but season passes save you tons of money. You usually get your money's worth in three visits or less. Now, if you don't want to spend the entire day in the zoo, you can always break your trip into 2-3 hour visits, and just keep coming back.

Also, drop by your local visitor's center for more free passes and discounts. You may want to check out the brochures that they have as well since you might discover new attractions that you didn't even know existed.
