Shimano's 2010 Deore groupset apparently offers plenty of bang for buck, thanks to improvements like a Shadow rear derailleur, hinged open-clamp design and easier disc-brake oil bleeding, all a result of the tech trickle-down effect that the Big S are famous for. Some of the new parts also weigh less than the old ones. The new Deore is expected to hit the streets later this month for under $500. More / More photos

Shimano's mid-level Deore group has been redesigned for 2010, with nifty upgrades like two-piston hydraulic brakes that use the same pads as SLX, XT and XTR, slimmer, sleeker levers with a revised blade for one- and two-finger braking, low-profile Shadow rear derailleur, and a crankset featuring two-piece construction.
