I do have a soft spot for Aida despite the last performance I saw, which was dreadful. They evoked, through ballet-ish, that Radames is a rapist and basically a war criminal. This tends to undercut ones sympathy for him and the two women who love him. Also, it suffered from Lloyd-Weberism (a large spectacular set piece that becomes more memorable than the performance). Speaking of opera ... one of our dogs is Tosca and the Anna Russell version of the Ring Cycle is really quite amazing/funny.

Well, if you're going to get another dog then maybe you should get a male dog and name him "Don Giovanni"

Tosca is the 8th most performed opera in America.

My nephew Hans Ørnes referred me to your blog. Very interesting. I will certainly return to read more. It is always interesting to read foreigners views on your own culture.
