6 months on, approved at last

Today I received word that my work permit has been approved.
Arrangments haven't been made but I expect I could fly within a week.
It was exactly 6 months ago that I sent my resume to Norway. In a pure coincidence my former colleague, now living in Canada, who recommended me for the position is visiting us today.
Speaking of coincidences, the day of my phone interview (back in June) I went to a little curry and pho restaurant for lunch that gives you a little flag with a city on it instead of a number so the waiter knows which table to find you at. The register I was in line at broke and I was redirected ... where they gave me a little Norwegian flag that said Oslo on it.
The various weather sites are predicting rain and high temperatures in the mid-50s(F) for the next 10 days or so.
We don't have a place to live yet but have been keeping a running list of favorites. I'll stay in Opera's "bachelors only" temporary housing while I look for something more permanent. We've gotten quite good at checking the meters to bus and shops since we won't have a car. Unfortunately, some really beautiful places with great views are too far from transportation options but we'd be happy with dog friendly and a short walk to work.
More details to come ... off to do my chores and bathe the grubby wee one.

Enjoy the last few days that you have in the U.S. It might be very different when you come back
