ticket to ride

S found an amazing deal on SAS, so I now have a ticket to Oslo from DFW via Frankfurt. I just hope the flight is more like Swissair (proper utensils, decent food, not crowded) and less like Continental (hot and packed and narrow of seat). Either way, I'll probably sleep and read and be pleased to get out on the town and stretch my legs.
I'm to arrive around lunch time on Monday and report straight to the office although I won't actually begin working until Tuesday. The temporary "bachelor housing" is quite near to work just a hair North of Grünerløkka. The weather looks to be highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s with rain every day for the next 10 days at least. I have this image of packing H's tiny ladybug umbrella instead of a proper one.
I was quite surprised to learn that I'm not actually required to carry my work and residency permit with me on arrival into the country. Apparently customs doesn't ask and for them. In fact I have yet to hear from the immigration consultant at the Houston consulate even though I know they received my permits last Friday.
I'm looking forward to finding my bearings at work and around town. Discovery is the most fun about such transitions. Seeing everything as new and taking nothing for granted.

Today in oslo it's about 67 degrees, sunny, nice. So nice you can wear just a long sleeved t shirt. S'posed to rain again soon. But today? Gorgeous.
Eat all the good american breakfasts you can before you come here. There are no breakfast joints and no tradition for them.
I miss breakfast tacos like nobody's bidness.
I can't wait to see this transition through someone else's experience instead of mine!
Oh...can I link to you on my blog?
