The world championship

After todays long distance final and before the closing banquet I couldn't help writing a bit about the past week. The championsip gave me three opportunities to run, two of them I consider good and one to be rather as good lesson. The especially good run was the sprint qualification, where I kept my mind cool and in the tricky forest sprint I completed the course almost clear - letting me qualify to my first world championship final! Than it was amazing what feelings the final gave to me. The home cheering crowd and all the special circumstances of running a Woc final was for me something as crowning all my 10 years I have done orienteering. As keeping me to the previous thoughts the final was Ok but in the physical part I really felt a bit gap in the sunny afternoon. I didn't fail as I didn't have any major mistakes but in the zoo I couldn't keep on my flow and among the tricky short controls I've lost altogether about half a minute. My final placement is 41, let's keep this lower and lower in the next years! The feeling was amazing. The middle qualification was an other race, I missed a really great to the first control and I didn't have a chance to qualify after that. It's a bit pity because without that I counted as could have been in.
I really prepare to write in the next days a longer analysis about the three races with maps and routes. But now I continue my duty and it is now to have a good time in the evening.. =)
And on Wednesday? Destination Göteborg! - for half a year
