If you have a bathroom that is looking a bit dated, or has grubby grouting or dull flooring you can make some quick changes to brighten it up; a few replacements or updates can make all the difference.
Tips on remodeling your bathroom
If you want to make a change to your bathroom, you can go for a quick make over which is cheap and easy with minimal disruption and not too much in the way of costs. The other option is to rip the whole suite out and start all over again, which can be a lot of fun but will cost a significant amount if you do it correctly, as well as disrupting your household for a good few days.

Quick and easy ways to change your bathroom
If you have a bathroom that is looking a bit dated, or has grubby grouting or dull flooring you can make some quick changes to brighten it up; a few replacements or updates can make all the difference.
Give it a lick of paint
If you have painted walls in the majority of your bathroom this is an easy option. Choose light, bright colors; blues and aqua are classic bathroom colors, but anything pale will work as bathrooms are generally fairly small and dark colors will not help make them look bigger. If your bathroom has a lot of tiles you can still paint it, there are lots of different tile paints available but you have to make sure you apply it according to the instructions and prepare the area well or the end result will be streaky and may drip. If applied well, tile paint can be a cheaper alternative to retiling and you can change your bathroom with little mess and disruption
Change the furniture
A simple change of bathroom fixtures and fittings can really update the décor; bathroom tissue holders, vanity units and towel rails can all be easily changed to give the room a new look. Pick fixtures that will not date too quickly; plain patterns and neutral colors are the best for this. You can change your taps and door handles as well; taps make a big difference to the look of a bathroom and are easy to swap in and out; your won’t need a plumber or builder for this. One of the easiest ways to alter your bathroom décor is to add a splash of color in the form of new towels, sink side glasses and bath mats.

Go all out – remodeling a bathroom
If you want to totally replace your bathroom, or maybe rearrange the layout to make it better suited to you, there are a few things to consider. These are a few tips on how to remodel a bathroom rather than just redecorate
Plan it all out in advance
Before you start ripping out baths, showers and sinks make sure you know what the final plan is. Check websites and friends houses for bathroom remodeling ideas, and draw up some plans that are properly measured to ensure everything will fit where you are planning to put it. Get quotes from builders if you are getting help, or price up the cost of materials if you are doing it yourself, and add a buffer in both time and cost as DIY projects always take more time and money than you first think. Make a plan of works as well, or get one from your builder so that you know when your bathroom will be out of use and for how long.

Stick to the plan
If you are remodeling a bathroom yourself, then try to stick to your plan so that you get everything done in the right order. Call in help if you have any problems; you should have a buffer in your budget for just such an occasion as things never go exactly to plan. Remember to keep some space in your budget for the finishing touches such as toothbrush holders, mirrors, towel rails and even new towels to match your new décor, and once you have remodeled your bathroom make sure you care for it properly; good maintenance and cleaning make all the difference to the lifetime of your bathroom furniture, grouting and fixtures.
There are plenty of ways from the cheap and easy to the full remodel to update your bathroom; just remember to budget well, plan ahead and don’t take on too much; half a job is worse than no job at all
