Wireless Woes Part Two

In my quest to get my wireless network secured I called their tech support this morning and after going through several checks, the guy decided that I needed new firmware. So he gave me directions where to get the firmware and I ended the call and proceeded to download and install the new software. During the installation I got an error and the router became useless. Little did I know, (support did not tell me) that I could not update the firmware wirelessly but had to plug router directly into computer.
My router was fried... well not exactly fried but more of soft boiled. I called them back and went through the process of resetting the router and installing the new firmware again - this time while it is wired. That was successful. Unfortunately it has not fixed the problem of not being able to secure the router, the password problem still exists.
Come back later for part three and hopefully after trying yet again to fix it, it will be the finale.
