I'm on vacaction

, , , ,

Hi all,

I am on vacation and I won't be able to work on MacBeans consistently till February. The next parallel step in making NetBeans more native/familiar-looking on OS X is to compile a list of NetBeans RFEs that let plugin developers customize more parts of it.

Cyaz till February

I hope vacation is great!

Thanks  While the mountains were already covered with enough snow to make it possible to go for a snowboarding trip, it is now snowing in the city as well and I've heard that the roads to the Dizin mountain, my favorite snowboarding destination, is closed right now due to heavy snowfall.

My snowboarding shoes are lost and I might have to get a new pair. That means that I might have to change my bindings as well, which in turn means that I might have to change my board as well  Oh, and the most important thing to take care of right now is my stomach which looks like a watermelon cut in half due to all those cheese burgers and beers that I have had in the past couple of years

Happy new year

 Thanks! "Good tidings of comfort and joy..."

I've always wanted to snowboard; it looks easier than skiing, but my friends, who were responsible for grabbing me by the collar and dragging me out to do fun stuff, are all married w/ kids and otherwise indisposed. awww I gotta find some younger mates.

Ah. I have similar problems actually. My ex skiing/snowboarding mates are all spread around the world. But then I started going to the resorts with some sort of touring buses. Then I stopped snowboarding. But I am gonna do it regularly from now on again.

What became of the first three incarnations?

behrangsa 12. January 2009, 07:14

It counts the number of times I am born (again). And I couldn't go to Dizin this time :frown: Maybe next year!

Is it back to the daily grind already?

I wondered; are you an OpenSolaris fan?

behrangsa 4. February 2009, 06:50

Kind of. I came back to Melbourne about 20 days ago. The uni business starts about 20 days later though. I haven't used Solaris/OpenSolaris myself but I have heard a lot of impressive things about ZFS and DTrace. Are you a Solarisian?

Euro_cure-o 4. February 2009, 08:05

I'm not. I'm a misfit everyplace else, so far, though. I thought Sun might be the panacea.

I think all the current OSes (as well as programming languages, RDBMSes, IDEs, etc.) have their share of annoying problems, bugs, and features. Only those who choose their toolset dogmatically fall in love with it.

There was a time when I was a dogmatic Java fanboy. I couldn't accept any criticism of it. I had a few pro .NET friends and we always used to have very heated arguments and debates. The funny thing is that even back then I knew that Java had some weaknesses compared to other languages but I would never admit it!

I guess Solaris is not an exception too. But have you tried OS X? For the first few months it is difficult to get used to it, but after that things start to make sense. It is not void of its problems as well. I hate the fact that there are no shortcut keys for menus for example. But I like it more than the rest of the current available OSes.

I've never had the chance to use Mac architecture. I think you put it best, too, that those who choose dogmatically see no faults.
