Daddy Said...

Daddy's ideas inspire me to solve the world's problems. Will the world now be a better place?

Episode 51

,

As announced late last year, Daddy Said will know 52 episodes. With a little more than 10 episodes coming - at the time of creating this sticky - it's time for you dear reader, to get involved with the penultimate episode. Episode 52 has already been written and is burning a hole in my hard-drive, but first, you have to decide what Daddy will talk about in Episode 51.
How? No poll, just comment to this post! I alone will undemocratically decide which suggestion is the most fun or most urgent to be fixed. The giver of the winning idea will receive mentioning in that post.

Let the comments stream in!

I haven't read 3 cups of tea but it was highly recommended.A story about Pakistan's fight for freedom one school at a time. Just a thought. I know you dwell in politics a lot so maybe this is a bit much. You can always talk about the pros and cons of stem cell advancement, ( which I am for).
Or you have my permission and my Daddy's to REAM OBAMA with those numbers you sent to me. Nobel THIS! I was aghast!! I still am..
Well that's all the ideas for now as it's vacation time and my mind is on auto drive. C U L 8 ter.

I believe that there are no more floods than in times past; it's just that there are more people living in flood prone areas. Global warming does have something to do with it, but global warming is a result of the population and its activities. Also, add to that the news media is now able to report on everything anywhere, so maybe it's a matter of awareness.

Too many people in too many places.

Money = power, and power is the greatest addiction of all. Hence greed.

Juan Viegas-Bueno 18. December 2009, 13:53

yes that is true, but don't blame only one superpower.
What about China greed.
Please no to censorship sorry for my comment with smileys i will not do it in this page any more, but some times smileys mean something for a yes or a no.

Patrick 18. December 2009, 19:37

China is greedier than the U.S. (if that's possible). And what's with our young Thai friend there? Capitalists have deceived the world? I suppose you have no capitalists in Thailand. When I lived there I saw a lot of capitalists. I saw a lot of corruption, too. And a lot of environmental damage. You have more pressing issues in your own country , kid, than what we're doing. Go pee in a klong like everybody else. And what of Juan? First, cut out the smiley thing like Ben told you. The Danes are a dangerous and unpredictable lot. Back to Juan's opinions: The "superpowers" are always to blame for everything. Well that's just fine, and to a point you're right, Juan, but ... never mind. Go join some radicals who are a general pain in the ass to just about everybody else (I will not name any names, but you know who you are), or some ragtag Maoist guerilla outfit. Maoist guerillas? My God, I'm showing my age. So, wherever you are, whomever you are, go buy a big car, set fire to all of your trees, pee in the klongs, and burn lots of coal while exploiting every poor soul on the planet. Huzzah!

Ben Trein 19. December 2009, 12:31

@ Juan: I wouldn't sensor smileys, if they were functional. But if without a comment, or any words from both you and Kokila I get four or five (I don't remember, it's been a while) comments that contain nothing but smileys - I recall it was three times the same smiley in four identical comments from the same person - I cut it. My blog is to be read, and to any outsider Kokila's blog is unreadable, due to the immense number of meaningless repetitions, such as jajaja - which is a transliteration of the Thai for yesyesyes - and
I have nothing against smileys, as long as they supplement the text.

@ColC: Why the name-change? You remind me of the quote my father told me, but I forgot the exact words. It went something like: If you're thirty, and you're not a leftist, you're evil. But if you're sixty and you're still a leftist, you're an idiot. I'm glad you picked up on how these comments inspired me to write on hypocrisy, but please keep the peace. Greed and bad tempers cause the wars... P:

See, I have nothing against smileys, as long as they supplement the text!

Patrick 19. December 2009, 13:28

You're correct, of course. My temper is what got me to where I am now, which is basically nowhere. Hostility and righteous anger are not the same, though. I was just being hostile. Not good. You are indeed wise, my friend. At least I'm not greedy or I would have some money, a fancy car, or a big house. What I do have, though, is something much more valuable - a wonderful little daughter and a loving wife. I don't know how I changed my name. I'll look into it. I'm not exactly a leftist. I'm just more liberal than when I was younger. Leftist radicals are hard to find anymore. They've been replaced by right wing extremists. There is always somebody wanting to s*** in your mess kit.

Back to the original point of all this. The earlier comments about global warming and environmental degradation were actually good, despite the rock throwing, and should spark some genuine discussion as long as people stick to the subject. Incidentally, my father is all for global warming. The idea of banana trees in Alaska and New York City sunk beneath the Atlantic doesn't bother him. Earth, we hardly knew ye.

Juan Viegas-Bueno 19. December 2009, 13:52

Why start a fire here? We don't it,we need to be in peace so we can help to make our planet a safe world for us before too late.YES I blame the superpowers and also many countries for the holes in the green house.
As said before no more smilies in your blog,i sent you only one without comment.
Let peace be peace
