We got a few emails that y'all liked our preshow rambling. So on Saturday we'll release that, while releasing the entire show on Sundays.
In this episode of Best Damn Tech Preramble, the BDTSP crew perform "Peanut Butter/Jelly time", hang out in a cavern, toss the frisbee in Tron, and Drew battles his addiction with foul language. Actually, Plante and Drew are just playing with the onboard effects of the mixer...but Drew still has a potty mouth.

Well folks we're only hours away from the launch of Version 2.0. I've been thinking of the things that have gone on over the past year and there was quite a bit to think about, heh. At one point, I had moved away and didn't do the show for a month. Then I tried to revive it with new people and it didn't work out at all. It had nothing to do with the new folks, it just didn't feel right. When I went back to work at EDU, I approached Paul first and asked him if he was interested in trying to do the show again. A few conversations later, he and Plante were on board and we were "bacccckkkk"
On December 2nd, 2005, the Best Damn Tech Show, Period. was reborn with version 1.11. With just Paul, Adam, and I, a chemistry was created. We flowed really well. Heck we were used to there being 5 of us, and now we had to fill all of the dead space. Paul resumed his role as host and he really took a hold of the show. To this day, I say that without his growth and talent as host, the Best Damn Tech Show, Period. would be nothing.
Wow, tomorrow is the Best Damn Tech Show, Period.'s one year anniversary. I can hardly believe that it has been one full year. On June 4, 2005 we launched BDTSP Episode v 1.0. We had no idea what we were going to talk about or where the show would take us. I'll post more stories as we edit 2.0 today, but I figured I would start at the beginning.
Some of the feedback that we've gotten from people who have listened all along are "You guys are so much better", "You guys sound so much better", "You guys really sound comfortable now". We agree with some of that, and that's because as with anything, once you do it for a while you get comfortable with your surroundings and you find your groove. We definitely found our groove, and it all comes together tomorrow for version 2.0.
How did BDTSP start?
One day at EDU, we were all sitting around talking technology and I had started listening to "This Week in Tech", the first tech podcast I had ever heard of. I thought to myself, "Hey, we know as much as these guys, and we're way more entertaining and funny". Best Damn Tech Show, Period. was born.
Quick funny story. We named our microphone "Chewy" after Chewbacca (and Adam's great Chewbacca sound effects). For about 4 shows we plugged this trusty microphone in until one day I accidentally pulled it out and Ulmer's laptop kept recording our voices. Chewbacca never worked, it was the laptop's internal microphone. Still, Chewbacca was our very first mic.
Best Damn Tech Show, Period. is taping version 2.0 today at 5pm EST. It's our 1 year anniversary blowout show! Send in your questions, comments, or shoutouts to: info@bestdamntech.com
In Episode 37 of the Best Damn Tech Show, Period. Drew Olanoff, Chris Schmidt, and host Paul Fleming talk about Microsofts busy world, Yahoo and eBay partnering up, Flemos new Macbook pro, Schmidt Faced/Face Plante, Iris on the Virus, Stumbling upon new products, It's a Wonderful Web, and much much more...
"After hearing accusations that Coldplay's Chris Martin stole a song
from unknown band Creaky Boards, Schmidt lashes out in defence of
Coldplay in this intense and unbridled (and quite obviously
unscripted) tirade against the millions of Creaky Boards fanboys."
