Life before the computer

When I booted my computer this morning, I had to think about the fact, how much this technology has changed our lifes. Not only that we spent so much time in front of it, but also our diction has changed completely.
In our life before the computer
- memory was something that you lost with age
- an application was for employment
- a program was a TV show
- a keyboard was a piano
- a web was a spider’s home
- a virus was the flu
- a hard drive was a long trip on the road
- a mouse pad was where a mouse lived
- and if you had a 3 ½ inch floppy you just hoped nobody would find out

I better shut down myself now and go back to sleep mode

A wonderful blog post cheers

...and I can remember that I was a called a 'young guy'
and, strangely enough, I still see myself as this smile and so some things are impervious to change, aren't they? bigsmile

Hi Loku, you are right, they better should be, but I am afraid they are not. And it is not only on computer-phrases but also in our day to day life and language. We all over here better lern english to understand our german language. I think, you as an englishman feel at home here, reading and hearing about shopping, nail design, pitstops for cars, fastfood and fingerfood, sneakers, jeans, t-shirts, sweaters, boots, drinks, relaxing, fragrances, drinks, chilling, hair dryer and this list could be continued for pages. But there is a good thing to it: the language barrier is getting lower and lower and may be it helps to understand each other a little better.

I too don't know what a flashcube is. Please explain, if you do not mind. tks. The internet has made the world a small place and an interesting one. It feels like I have the world sitting on my doorstep.
