The subject says it all.

First, I check the mail, and find the package with the HDD adaptors. They said 2 to 10 days, and seeing as they were in California, I figured that it'd be closer to 10. It was three.

And then, the Newegg package came one day early

So, I'm now posting from a fresh Win2K install on the new HDD.

This thing is WICKED fast. As in, it'll milk every drop of performance out of this laptop, and it'll have a longer useful life (read: I can put off buying a new lappy

)

So, I'm one heatsink and one battery away from having perfection again...

hard drive, crash, laptop

get off my lawn! (or, in this case, my laptop bag...)

OK, I'm at a friend's house, OK, and we're getting ready to leave. I have to quickly check something, so I set my bags (one has textbooks, the other has my laptop) down.

So, I turn to go away, and this little kid runs up and starts fucking kicking the laptop bag. My first instinct is to tear the little fucker to shreds, but I hold it back, and just yell at him. His dad, who was right there (but not looking at that moment), proceeds to chew him out as well, along with the friend of mine.

The story doesn't end there.

I go home, and plug in the laptop to check my e-mail and my forums before I go to bed. I fire it up. It comes up really... damn... slowly... Anyway, when I start Opera, I notice something... first, it's taking five minutes to start when it usually takes about 15 seconds, and second, it's making a noise like this: "grind click click click grind click click click grind click click click grind"

Anyway, I'm going to be ordering a new HDD from Newegg: Samsung Spinpoint M MP0402H

It's a 40GB 5400RPM laptop drive, versus the Hitachi 20GB 4200RPM that's in it now.
