A Flat Major Scale

The Key of A Flat
Starting in October 08, I want to start learning all of the other Keys by studying one key each month.

TIP: If you look at the key of A, you will notice that the 3 notes that you sharp are F, C, and G.
So, in the key of A flat, those 3 notes are just regular notes, no sharps, no flats.

Spell the word BEAD and flat all of those notes.
That wll leave 3 notes that do not get flatted. C, F, and G.

--Ab--Bb--C--Db--Eb--F--G--Ab

Here is the left hand fingering of the scale.

----3----2----1----4----3----2----1----3

Here is the right hand fingering of the scale.

----2----3----1----2----3----1----2----3

Today, the 1st day of the month, I am just going to start off with the vi chord.
It is F, and the 3rd tone of it needs lowered a half step to make the chord Fm.

The six ( vi ) chord today. Here are the notes.

---F-minor-chord---F---Ab---C

Fm is the relative minor of Ab Major. To find the Major of a relative minor, just go up 3 half steps.
( F to Gb one half step, Gb to A two half steps, and A to Ab three half steps. )

Note: To transpose the notes of a song from the key of C to the key of Ab, you just take the notes
either 4 half steps down, or 8 half steps up. ( Those 2 numbers have to add up to 12 )

Oct. 2nd.

The One ( I ) chord today. Here are the notes.
