The study increases the acceptability of the use of Omega 3 as a good addition to any mental health treatment. When you are exhibiting signs of mood swings it is best to treat it under the guidance of a trained mental health professional and not to self-medicate which can be dangerous and does not guarantee 100 percent of recovery. Stress When you are under stress, your body is pumping a lot of cytokines which are also stress hormones. A study showed that the Omega 3 has demonstrated its ability to slow down the release of cytokines into the blood stream. The result showed a 14 percent reduction of the presence of cytokines in the blood and it was the Omega 3 that is behind the event. The study also shows a lot of promise for the Omega 3 as a super supplement eyed to lower the risk of heart disease, diabetes and not to mention depression. Bipolar disorder In a study involving people with bipolar disorder, adding Omega 3 fatty acid made them experience fewer mood swings when combined with standard medication. Inflammation Research has shown that taking Omega 3 fatty acids regularly can help the body reduce the amount of inflammation and help lower the risk of people from getting heart disease, cancer and even depression together with serious mental illnesses. ADHD Children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder have shown low levels of essential fatty acids which includes DHA and EPA. In study which involved children with low levels of essential Omega 3 fatty acids, it showed a lot of behavioral problems such as tantrums and even difficulty in sleeping. Studies involving the administration of Omega 3 fatty acids showed promising results as it improved overall behavior. However, there is a need for additional research to make Omega 3 a reasonable treatment against ADHD to help people improve their quality of life. The health benefits that are associated with Omega 3 fatty acids are truly impressive. However, medical science is barely scratching the surface on the potential of this wonder fat.
