CyberKnife treatments complete

It has been a long week. My routine was disrupted by getting up early to give myself an enema, not a pleasant way to start the day. I then headed to the medical building for my CyberKnife treatments for prostate cancer. The first treatment took the most time as it took a while to get me positioned just right on the table. I brought a music CD to listen to while the technicians were getting this done. Once I was in position they would put whatever movie I brought and I would watch this during treatment. The machine would move to various positions around me during treatment. It was fairly quiet. The treatments were painless. The only exception to this routine was Wednesday in which my treatment was in the afternoon so I went to work early. I came home and did my prep enema and then off to the treatment.
As far as side effects I have lost a couple of pounds which is a good thing and I am tired. The radiation has caused the prostate to enlarge so I have to get up more during the night. I brought this to the attention of the doctor and he said this is perfectly normal and said it should subside in a few weeks. He gave me a prescription for Flomax. I think getting back to my normal routine will help a lot in my recovery.
I have a follow up visit scheduled for July 10th. I have to go to the lab a couple of days prior to that to have blood drawn for a PSA test. I will have tests done off and on for probably the rest of my life as they want to monitor the PSA to see if it stays low to be sure the cancer has not come back.
